In this video, we go over the entirety of Death Note lore and compare Light Yagami / L to Batman. Could Batman solve the case and catch Kira or would Light figure him out first? Is he smarter than L or would he fall short?

(Includes lore and information from the Death Note Manga, Death Note: How To Read, The BB Investigation Novel, L: Change the World, and various Batman iterations in the form of Rebirth Batman)

  • Should I make another video on Batman or even L in the future? Let me know. Q&A (Read More) Q. What about Rem? A. This is in reference to the "Post-L" scenario I gave, and Rem fades away after dealing with L so Rem wouldn't be around to do anything, and I already explained that the first situation would have to end too quickly in either Batman or Light's favor for Rem or Misa to even appear. So in no situation would Rem ever be involved in Batman VS Kira. Q. You said Rebirth Batman, so why are you bringing up other Batman variations? A. The events of Convergence merged the Golden Age, Silver Age, Post Crisis and New 52 characters together into a single iteration that we call "Rebirth." This is why rebirth characters remember Rainbow Batman even though that happened way back in the Golden Age or how the current Superman knows about events that only Post Crisis experienced.
  • Batman sees one speck of dust at the crime scene. Batman: "Oh yeah, it's all coming together."

Light: Breathes Batman: “ you know.....you’re the only person around here with a big ass shinigami following you”

Could Saul Goodman defend Kira in court?

Batman typically goes after criminals who are physically performing a crime. However, Kira doesn't physically perform any crime. Batman will very likely silently investigate him. By the time Kira realises Batman is investigating him Batman would literally be behind him.

Light: Batman: “You may not realize it, but that sneeze contained about 7.2 GB of information about you.”

The biggest advantage of Batman is that he would immediately assume that someone is using superhuman abilities to kill.
  • @ChasehaWing
The advantage Batman has over Kira and light, is his lack of narcissism. He will not make loud announcements and declarations of his intentions to catch light. He will not play a game of chess with this killer. He will strike whilst Light is in the dark, young and inexperienced. When the other has no idea anyone is even on his trail.
  • Not only would Batman solve the case, but he would save Light. He'd be wearing the crimson, yellow, and green in no time at all.

Light: I'm gonna take a potato chip, and eat it! Batman: that was your first, and last mistake.
  • Superman using x-ray vision: "hmmm why is this kid writing down names in a notebook and screaming I'm god."
  • @Afghanisstan
One thing is for sure, Both Batman and Light would go after you.

Batman could do it. Light’s a smart guy, but even in his own story he had a noticeable pattern, and kept falling into traps set for him when his own arrogance wasn’t making him slip up. All Batman would have to do is pick up on the pattern, and start eliminating suspects from the list.
  • It will be easy for Batman. He will just pull out his Kira detector from his utility belt.
  • It’s implied L is from America so who knows maybe he is Batman. All I’m saying is I’ve never seen L and Batman in the same room
  • The greatest setback Light faces here is, ironically, the lack of L. L made the phenomenally prideful and stupid move of announcing his presence to Kira. This immediately made Light raise his game. In a world without that, he doesnt have to try as hard and continues to make dumb mistakes that further expose him (as though he hadn't laid enough evidence down for Batman to find by that point). From there, Batman has the resources and ingenuity to track down Light... and yeah, gg. Just recognizing Light's father as an upstanding lawman means he'd have the only ally he'd really need to seal the deal. And while it would not be hard for a kid as bright as Light to figure out Batman is Bruce Wayne, he'd have to get that far first. Batman knows how to play things cautiously and would not reveal himself until he was certain he couldn't be targeted, likely after he's secured the Deathnote and confronted Light.
  • a feat no one talks about for L is that he narrowed down the suspect list by 7 billion
  • @Cstewy28
Light:*breaths* Batman:Your name is light Yagami you’re Kira there’s a death note in between your drawer and I can see that shinigami next to you

Power scaling? No, we’re too sophisticated for that, this is intellect scaling
