Manchester descended into “scenes of absolute chaos” after a video emerged showing a police officer appearing to kick and stamp on the head of a man on the ground. A second video has been released showing the moments before, where the men involved appear to assault the police officers.

Now, Akhmed Yakoob, a controversial lawyer, has announced he is parting ways with the family involved.

The Times’s crime editor Ben Ellery reports on how one viral clip led to national outrage and an IOPC investigation.

Why are people shocked by police reaction and not by the criminals punching the police officers?
  • @ronnoc0074
They’ve been bailed. Thats absolutely insane we just allow dangerous criminals to walk the street
  • That POLICE OFFICER DID NOTHING WRONG !! IT'S THE OLD RACIST CARD GETTING PLAYED !! WELL DONE OFFICER HOPE YOU GET YOUR JOB BACK
  • The Times was one source milking this story. Milking the anti police position.

We need the home secretary to make a statement as to why these 2 dangerous individuals were allowed back into society, if they're willing to attack 3 armed police officers then what are they willing to do to the public, they should be on remand pending their court appearance

People are shocked at the way the police reacted but ok with female officers being brutally assaulted and suffering serious injuries....ffs
  • Why are they not in prison already it clear they were the aggressors

One day of news of a soldier being stabbed, to a whole bloody week of this. Give it a rest
  • The female officers ran away and the male officer was fighting for his life. They did what they had to.
  • These people obviously instigated and escalated the attack. They grievously injured one officer and hurt the other ones. Sure, the officer should not have kicked the guy's head in. But have these reporters ever been in combat or even a street fight? I was in the US Army and in direct combat in Afghanistan. You can have the most amazing discipline in the world, but fight-or-flight is real. Again, I'm not saying that the police officer was in the right, but he and the Manchester police certainly should not be publicly eviscerated for this. Those people who struck a cop should be jailed for as long as permissible, because they're obviously the problem. "Police brutality" would not be a problem if degenerates did not pick unwinnable fights for no good reason.

The moral of the story as always wait for the whole video. And also disregard those voices who were so certain that this was unprovoked police behaviour. This nonsense is very tired. I do hope the Police have some backbone and defend their officer.

What a U turn by the media, what a surprise 😮
  • Sick of the community playing the victim when obviously it was the individuals who where the ones who where to blame. Its disgusting they no respect for women outside their community
