I completely understand the view this bike is underpowered. I own one and I am big unit at 120kg so 60 miles an hour is about top speed for me. But that is what I love about it - it makes you approach your rides with a different mind set. I've owned a Harley Fat Bob, Indian Chief Vintage, Yamaha MT01 - all awesome bikes in their own ways. But the Classic is my absolute favourite - it really makes me think about my rides and riding and has got under my skin like no other. bike I've owned. Would I say no to, say, 10 extra hp? Probably not, but only if it did not change the character of the bike.
  • Morning Andy. I agree that you do tend to get car drivers up your bum, and I do the same, just wave them past. The Classic 350 will do the dual carriageway’s etc, but more at home on B’s and unclassified’s. I did an honest long term owners review recently, pointing out the negatives around the quality of some of the components, but overall, I love the Classic 350. Although the new Triumph 400’s are a threat, I think they appeal to a different buyer. Too modern looking for those who want something retro, which is where the Classic wins. Great ride !
  • £30!? Mrs Flyer only had scrambled egg and toast! Jeff and Dan would have walked out! 🤣

I returned to biking after a very long lay off ( around 20 years) , my last bike was a ZX7R . I have a classic 350 in the same colour and I must admit it does everything I need to. It’s not a motorway bike but it will sit happily at 70MPH , keeps up with traffic in most situations and is a joy to ride. I don’t need a rocket of a bike anymore, I just enjoy the Enfield for what she is but it’s each to their own. Great review though.

I own a 350 classic, and have watched so many reviews on youtube, but for me, no one has ever mentioned how relaxing it is to ride! Because the power is limited, you go with the flow, and the riding position is very comfortable also.......coupled with the torque from its long stroke engine all combines to relax the rider, so they can enjoy the bimble.
  • Good morning Andy and Carol, Yes, a great looking bike but that's about it for me. As you rightly said, not enough power but the bike serves its purpose. I've been riding since 1981 and my 1982 & 1984 Yamaha RD350LC's that I still have, push between 50 & 60bhp respectively. Can't beat a two-stroke. 😀😀
  • What Ian Hughes said! If you want a Classic 350, there is no substitute, comparing the Classic with the 400 Triumphs is like comparing apples to bananas….
  • @MsDenver2
I’ve rode mine on duel caring ways and it fine , I could only do 40mph till my first service, it might only have 20 horsepower but it’s got good torque. I think you’re too used to fast bikes so I can understand your thinking but I haven’t rode for over 40 years and because I retire next year it’s plenty for me. I intend to tour once run in and fitted all the accessories I want . I like riding slow at my age to just enjoy the countryside 😊👍

Nice to see Mrs Flyer back on the bike again. May we see her more often as the Summer progresses. 350 is a good size city bike.
  • @grahamdukes1460
Take you're point about the triumph but it's more like £1200 more expensive. I don't think you can put them in the same category. You can get the re classic brand new for £3700 which is great value but still takes some saving up. Good video, keep up the good work. G

Liked this vid, Andy. Great overview of living with the Enfield, and a nice trip around the shires with the Mrs. That little clip at the end though, I could watch that all day! Great stuff.
  • @otlndsh
I love the cockpit view on this bike. there's just something cool about classic bikes that tells you they're just built different, by people who thought different
  • That shiny brown and chrome really dazzles in the sun. Saw a new Jawa with the same paint scheme the other day. Looks amazing.
  • Thank you for taking me on a tour of places I knew quite well when I worked at the Taplow research centre. It was many years ago mind (mid 1980's), I imagine the feel of the area has changed a bit since... I still remember stumbling across the place that was used for Fawlty Towers outdoor scenes on one of our exploration trips 😀
  • @Impulse5596
You spoke about the three things you needed to concentrate on whilst riding. I live in the area, you omitted the 4th, pot holes!
  • Good little plodder ideal for bimbilng through county lanes on a nice day , stopping off for the odd coffee at cafe or shandy at nice country pub . The power doesn’t bother me ,I can remember taking a mates Honda C 70 down & even a Suzuki GP 100 U two stroke down the M 53 . I had a big grin on my dial the whole time . The C 70 & GP 100 only had about 18 horsepower put together ,so a 350 cc with around 20 hp, should be no problem , I would do a German autobahn on one two up , a proper adventure .😎👍
  • @michael1061
The RE lacks just that little bit of extra BHP to keep up with modern day traffic but has plenty of old school charm which is nice . Mrs Flyer always adds a touch of class and charm to your vids , keep them coming Andy . 🤗

A perfect encapsulation of what it is to be a bike enthusiast. Out on a lovely motorcycle with the missus, great weather, eventually and a half decent breakfast at your destination. Plus, with your local knowledge of those picture perfect roads, no need for sat nav to distract you from getting thoroughly lost either. Happy trails.
  • @ragerider6283
Nice little vid. I enjoyed the casual varied nature of it so wouldn't mind some more of the same chucked in the mix.
  • The two men seen running on the left side of the road are completely lacking in common sense. What chance have they got in avoiding a vehicle with an inattentive driver? If you're walking or running on a road you should always face oncoming traffic.
