Cashew nut is made up of a fruit in which the kernel is embedded. The real fruit of the cashew is commonly a nut. It is a kidney- or heart-shaped achene, in any normal variety. Its color varies from bottle green to grayish brown (dried fruit). It is attached to the end of a fleshy footstalk or peduncle, which is in fact the receptacle of the flower, that is, broadened and swollen, and forms the false fruit. The nut is composed of kernel and pericarp or shell.
Cashews are a type of nut with a soft consistency and sweet flavor and very nutritious. They are native to South America, specifically Brazil, and were introduced by colonists to Africa and India. Regions are the largest producers of cashews today is Vietnam, India. Cashews are sold both raw or roasted, and salted or unsalted.

    This is a very good video. However, it didn't mention that the raw cashew in the shell contains a dangerously poisonous chemical called Urushiol that is removed during processing. Also, the cashew fruit is edible and sweetly delicious, although it does have an unique flavor. It also makes a refreshing fruit juice beverage. Cashew trees also thrive in Central America, especially in El Salvador where it is an important food crop.
