Seattle SR-99 Tunnel -- First Day of Tolling (09 Nov 2019) (see desc.)

Some corrections: (1) the pylons at the Republican exit were installed by WSDOT, not the City of Seattle. (2) WSDOT was predicting about 30% diversion, not the city (though the city is prepared). (3) the signage was not "brand new" that day, though it was newly uncovered. (4) The "Rainier Tower" is actually the "Rainier Square Tower" (I mix the two up frequently).

Wow 🤩

Don't worry Jake. The Central Artery Tunnel in Boston was always bumpy since it opened in 2003. I liked your video.
-
I think they make tunnels bumpy on purpose. Keeps people focused.
-
Tax you to build it, charge you to use it....DAMN!!!!!
-
It's a bumpy tunnel, but it's bright and beautiful too. Always well lit and never dark.
-
There's neat sounds in them.
-
That's a pretty long tunnel. Does that go right under the downtown area?
-
As a Phoenix driver, I’m shocked at how few lanes this freeway and tunnel have. While the I-10 tunnel near downtown Phoenix is nowhere near as long, it has way more lanes with shoulders wide enough park in if you break down.
-
Tolls, there is no thing as a good toll.
-
I think being able to change lanes in a tunnel is a bad idea. Considering those that pay no attention to the speed limits.
-
I rode through there back in 2019 vacationing there. Pretty neat I thought.
-
I didn't even know I was on a toll road until I got the bill in the mail. Google maps took me on it.

Where Did You Exit State Route 99 Northbound Tunnel
-
How, where, when do you pay the toll? You didn't. I'm confused 😕
-
So there is no way to pay cash to enter
-
If you are from out of town and go through, how do they bill you? Does a camera take your plate number and WSDOT sends you a bill in the mail?
-
Apologize for the rain?
-
DOT went for the WW2 nazi bunker look
-
I drove into this last week not realizing how long it was. I'm extremely claustrophobic so I started panicking halfway in there. :[

Hey bro I’ve never been to Seattle but I’ve heard about this tunnel. Why build this tunnel? I’m from Southern California
