The .22 magnum is a lethal round with lots of penetration power even out of a short barrel revolver. The .22 magnum is the best round for self defense. The .22 magnum out of a two inch barrel usually penetrates 12 to 13 inches in ballistics gel. Your mileage could vary with your shooting experience. However, it is a truthful factual statement, that depending on different ammo types, the .22 magnum round out of a 2 inch barrel consistently penetrates at least 12 inches of ballistics gel. A .22 magnum revolver with a 3 inch barrel when fired will consistently penetrate nearly 14 inches of ballistics gel. This amount of penetration meets FBI standards for ballistics performance. The potent .22 magnum revolver is more than adequate to stop any human predator threat. I am assuming proper bullet placement near a vital organ area or the spine, abdomen or head. All the talk you hear about caliber debate in handguns is mostly hogwash. You can also practice the "double tap" technique of shooting once center mass of the target and then shooting again in quick succession. "Double tapping" a human predator in a vital organ area with a .22 magnum revolver at "bad breath" close quarters range is guaranteed to stop the threat. The lower cost of ammunition for range practice makes the .22 magnum an affordable self defense option too. Why buy other handgun calibers when the cost of ammunition per round is too expensive for a family budget? Cheaper affordable ammunition you can practice shooting with in quantity has a quality all its own.

Love my 942

We own this gun, and we carried it for quite a while...accurate out of the box, and .22 reliability issues mitigated with double action...about $340 out the door if I recall correctly...right now on HD duty loaded with gold dots, not the 1st option but immediately available if needed...looked at the s&w and ruger, this had price and capacity going for it...good little gun, the only pain cleaning 8 chambers instead of 6 or 7...don't know how the 9 and 10 shot revolver owners put up with it, lol...

I love the grips on the LCR, which is a fantastic pocket gun (especially a jacket pocket), but those Hogue grips you installed look pretty nice.

Looks like a fun pistol.

I can't say enough about this video.

Currently have a 942M that is off to Taurus service for FTF in double action about 1 in 8 shots across 4 different brands/types. We’ll see if I can trust the reliability once it comes back. I’ve also just purchased a S&W 351C for my wife for HD purposes.

I have the 3 inch barrel model but not in ultra light. Great little trail gun. Great video.
-
Which spring kit did you install, and have you had any reliability issues with light primer strikes as a result?
-
Nice revolver, i sighed up for on stock alerts on this and it was sold in 5 minutes 😢
-
Did you have snap caps in the cylinder when you were dry firing it?
-
Great little gun, but my new 3" 942M came with misfire issues. I had to return it for repairs.
-
How comfortable are you with dry firing this revolver?
-
No one mentions the Taurus model 941....which is essentially the same gun. The difference is the rear sight on the 941 that has adjustable windage and elevation. Totally unnecessary on a two inch barrel. But....I shoot CCI ammo as it has a smoother finished shell which seems to eject better than Winchester.
