As a host in sa re ga ma there was a segment in which contestants had to sing at the key according to the changes in chords and sonu used to help them with this.. That's what you saw in this video as well..He would sing the same song with different chords (lord of chords for a reason 😌)I have zero knowledge of chords and keys but somehow the way sonu sang sounded better to me 😂 There are few other compilations which show his year wise journey and many other songs of his own..

Sonu was imitating Md. Rafi when he was younger, Md. Rafi, who was the pinnacle of singing legends of 1960s to 1980s

3:55 dont agree with this . He might be an entertainer but he's primarily a vocalist and I don't think anybody else has focused this much on developing different vocal techniques than he has . I think being an entertainer he's equally proficient at the musical part as well.
  • @HarshLoomba

Sonu Nigam is a full package... and there is no one like him among the male artist..I repeat no one. Who have mastery over live singing, technicality, soulfulness, dynamics, range, performance, entertainment and what not. ❤❤ He is blessed. We are blessed to have him in our generation. Not a single clip is enough to know him...one will require life time to know him nearly completely. I am consciously hearing him from 2006.. still I find some unheard gems by him which just mesmerize me.. Continue to explore him..one day you will surely get what I meant.

For your information, Sonu Nigam left his home town to become a playback singer only. But at that time it was not easy to contact or catch attention of composers. There was no reality show. He has to struggle a lot. due to his charming and boy next door look, ability to speak and sing so well, he got the chance to become the host of India's 1st reality show Saregama where Shreya came as contestant and that show gave Shreya a lot of exposure to different composers and film maker.
  • He started as a singer in stage singing songs which were sung by Mohammad Rafi in old hindi movies. He was one of the best person to copy rafi sahab. I would request you two to plz dedicate one entire show to Mohammad Rafi.

2:25 Is that Swapnil Bandodkar as a contestant? I didn't know that. Swapnil Bandodkar is a well-established playback singer for Marathi film and music industry. Fun fact - I met him once as a singing contestant (I was 6 years old that time. About 23 years from now) when Swapnil Bandodkar was the host.

  • @sharanyanonum
@waleska and Efra...did you guys notice how Sonu was singing a lot of 60's sounding songs....a lot of those songs have been sung by Mohammad Rafi in the 50s, 60s, 70s and Sonu Nigam is a big fan of and inspired by Rafi Saab (saab/sahab=sir). They both have a soft-boy, fun boy, emotional tone to their voices. One of the songs Sonu sang while singing a duet is a beautiful track called "Raat ke Humsafar", sung by Rafi and Asha Bhosle. You can react to that one when doing another 50s-60s Bollywood music reaction :)

  • @oiiiie457
you guys should check out this clip of Sonu Nigam singing Tees Maar Khan, he basically sings one song with so many different voices if i remember right
  • I'd love to suggest another gem that deserves a watchalong spotlight i.e 'Guzaarish' by the incredibly talented Sanjay Leela Bhansali. This film is a testament to Bhansali's mastery in storytelling, with breathtaking visuals, a soul-stirring soundtrack, and powerful performances by Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai. 'Guzaarish' is not just a movie; it's an emotional rollercoaster that will leave you pondering long after the credits roll. Moreover, it received widespread acclaim for its sensitive handling of the theme of euthanasia and the right to die with dignity, sparking important conversations about compassion and human rights. It's also worth mentioning that the film's exquisite cinematography and hauntingly beautiful soundtrack earned it nominations and awards not only in India but also at international film festivals. Must watch ❤

Please react to Sonu Nigam top 200 songs. They are year wise and will show you his evolution in better quality.
  • Hey guys the reason why they sound different or sing in different keys is because they can. When it's not a competition and the audience is just present to listen sonu for his voice, he showcases all his talent in singing the same song better than the studio recorded. We are used to this as most of the singers improvise unless it's a competition. In competition everyone has to imitate the song exactly but in their voice. That's the major difference.
