Starting a Twitch channel essentially means you're going to be trying to grow from 0 viewers, and 0 Followers, this is a massive hurdle to overcome as a new Streamer.

You even have to expect 0 to no viewers for your first stream or week, I want you to turn off the viewer count, and Stream Like You Have 100s of viewers for two reasons, first to build up your confidence and practice your skills as an entertainer.

And second, you need to stream with the idea of making content for Tik tok, Yt shorts, instagram, full youtube videos, and any of the thousands of other platforms.

It sounds like a lot, but you need to go above and beyond to get your first 50 followers on Twitch!

How To Choose a game for Twitch Growth

Personally, I think too many people rely on looking at the top games by viewers on Twitch to pick what they play, because I think there is a much better number.

Category Followers. These are the people who have hit follow on a category or game, and if someone has done that they are pretty much going to get recommended on their homepage that category. They’ll also get recommended other categories they like watching, but you can’t see that number.

An example, Stardew Valley a game I got a lot of growth in when I started, took me from 10 avg to 20 avg, has 798,000 followers, an incredibly active community who love it religiously, it still gets updates, has npc’s that are chatty so it's good for smaller streamers with less twitch chat to respond to, but it only averages at 500 - 800 total viewers and you only need 5 viewers to appear in the top 3 rows.

The style of this video is similar to Alpha Gaming and Gaming Careers in parts. A large influence on this series has come from content creators like Wild4games and Nutty.

Hey Notification Squand and #Earlygang! I've had a massive influx of new streamers asking me how I STARTED and how they can reach those first 50 Followers to get affiliate, I realised it's been years since I explained a bit about my start, and wanted to cover it AND make sure it was up to date! 🕘Timestamps: 0:00 Getting Your FIRST 50 Followers On Twitch! 0:45 Why Twitch Followers DON'T Matter! 2:10 Own3d Pro Sponsored Segment! 2:50 How I Grew My First 50 Followers Without YouTube! 4:55 How I Kept My Viewers When Changing Games! 6:45 How To Grow On Twitch With YouTube 10:05 The Secret To Growing Your Stream 11:50 How To Convert Views To Followers! 13:50 How To Be A Successful Streamer

You somehow find a way to consistently touch on super similar topics without constantly repeating yourself. It’s great

I'm not just watching these videos to learn, but to enjoy as well. Eljay really makes these videos interesting and funny tbh
  • Awesome video! I feel like a lot of people struggle with motivation these days and making that further step to stand out. And it’s honestly crazy how greatly shorts can influence a community. Also I feel that finding what content to make can be a little bit tricky too and how to shift your presence on screen with your REAL personality, and not a fake one to please others. Great video, always learn so much from these!
  • Thank you for this video. Love the transparency at the end. Died laughing!

I’ve been watching your stuff a lot even before I started streaming. Coming from YT long form videos and building an audience with that. Your videos have helped me more with understanding OBS and actually going “live” properly. Thank you for all your work and tips 😊

I love the fresh spins on this take. What may have worked a few years ago during the pandemic might not be as successful today, but content creators aren’t hearing up-to-date tips as often as they should. Thanks for the great insight and actionable steps!
  • I just wanna say that even though I might not have 50 followers yet I think you have done an amazing job at just giving good advice in all of your videos because I just found your channel a week ago and already you helped me make my stream look a whole lot better so all im trying to say is thank you.
  • I watched a few of your videos and put things into action, with the support of community members I’ve met on twitch and the help from your videos I broke through the affiliate accomplishments 🎉
  • @Flembons
People hate to hear it, but Youtube is definitely the place to be if you're looking to grow. Having videos, shorts, and live streams all in the same place is just so much easier than trying to build a following across three completely separate platforms.

On my own twitch journey myself, thank you for the help my friend
  • Thank you. I've been struggling with my first 50 followers on twitch. You gave me some great insight. Just saying thank you
  • @juddigon
Dude! I actually just hit 50 followers tonight after 3 weeks. Thank you so much for all of your content! Oddly, it was more difficult for me to hit 50 followers than it was to get 3 average viewers and the 5 concurrent chatters, though I had been told it's usually the other way around. I'm still learning, and your tip from another video about watching your own VODs back to see what can be improved is what's really keeping me motivated and wanting to create more.
  • @cooljorts
Thanks for the tips dude! Seems like twitch is the hardest platform to get followers on, having fun streaming though! 😊
  • I love all your advice. It has stopped me from quitting streaming. Now I’m 1 subscriber away from 50 and thinking how to celebrate. 🎉
  • Hey Eljay, Was getting some sad vibe when I realized you were no longer streaming but I understand. Fixed my mood by binge watching a few more videos x) PS : you never cleared your stream schedule on twitch
