The Arquitens-class Light Cruiser would be one of the longest lasting warships in history, as it became the Imperial Command Cruiser, and later the Class 546 in Moff Gideons Imperial Remnant forces. See how it compares to the Venator, Acclamator and other Star Wars capital ships.

  • "Local ship too angry to become obsolete". Arquitence, Dreadnaught and Z-95 Headhunter should join and hit the road for "old timers have fun one last time" movie!

“You can’t keep a 20 year old cruiser in service, it’s too old” Arquitens: hold my class 2 hyperdrive
  • @Da__goat
The fact that the Acclamator can cruise within the atmosphere are speeds approaching Mach 1 is pretty impressive
  • Over 2 decades of service in both the Republic and Imperial Navy. The Arquitens truly is a venerable light cruiser that stands the test of time. It's like the Rendeli Star Drives Dreadnoughts in terms of quality and longevity. It's just that good. Not my favorite ship, I like the Dreadnought more, but a great ship nonetheless.

This ship never dies. I gotta admit that i adore the commitment this class had for it's purpose and job. As for myself, i'm too insecure. I need the commitment that ship has.

There's one thing I think you get wrong: Technically, the base model Arquitens we see in Clone Wars and Rebels doesn't really even have a docking bay at all. What happens is that in Rebels they dock up to three TIE fighters between the front mandibles of the Arquitens, and those can be dropped off in the middle of a battle. Possibly that was a functionality that was added by the Empire, since most Republic fighters are much less compact. Presumably the "two Lambda shuttles" capacity would be if they docked the Lambdas externally at the airlocks on the sides. Moff Gideon's Arquitens is just randomly way bigger than the Arquitens in the rest of the franchise, and even in its episode the scale doesn't really make much sense because the size of the opening that the TIE exits would be too small for a normal Lambda to squeeze into. But I guess a big open hangar was better for starting the fight scene.

Hmm, the Venator just missed the first battle of Geonosis by a few weeks? That seems like something Palpatine arranged in order to not make it a complete slam dunk for the GAR. If those had been available (along with their fighter compliments) the CIS leadership, including Dooku, would have never gotten off the ground and the planet would have been blockaded and completely occupied. The war would have been over then and there.
  • I do not wish to interfere in any future projects, just a mention about a forgotten class of imperial light ctuiser. The Carrack Class light cruiser! A modular design light cruiser, it could fill a number of roles. (This is a pre house of mouse entry in the Star Wars books, just a hint.)

Ah, the good ol Arquintens. Old reliable against the outer rim. From the battles with Separatists to Rebel scum, this ship design will always be one of my favorites.

"As tall as about 5 1/2 AT-TE's" Anything but the metric system
  • Thanks for the rundown on the Arquitens-class light cruiser. It’s one of my favorite ships in Star Wars.

Metanerdz, your breakdowns are always enjoyable. 👍

The Arquitens does seem to be the perfect ship to serve as the backbone of the Imperial navy, if of course the Empire had any common sense. You could purchase around fourteen Arquitens for the price of a single Star Destroyer and if the empire had settle for around 14,500 Destroyers they would have 203,000 Arquitens to play with.
  • Damn I love this ship so much, the prong shape and engines are so cool and I love seeing it evolve throughout the republic/empire war. Tragic we never saw a First Order version perhaps with more guns or armor like the squadrons version .
  • I never really thought this ship was super great. I always thought the Carrack was just better. The arquintens has average firepower for a ship of its size and is pretty slow. But on the other hand, its pretty cheap to build and is pretty tough. The carrack can be specialised based on what role you want it to play. It can be a anti-capitol ship or corvette killer (10 heavy TL, 20 ion Cannons), or it can take on starfighters (10 heavy TL and 20 point defense). Its very fast (keeps up with a lot of starfighters), roughly the same size as the arquintens (longer but more skinny), and can take just as much if not more of a beating. And it has the option to carry 4 starfighters if thats important to you. Both ships have their place though
  • @2011Kestrel
I love the “smaller” ships of Star Wars. I find them a lot more realistic and believable than massive ships like the ISD. The C70 Charger and the Arquitens are two of my favourites. The C-ROC follows in a close third.
  • The Arquitens was vastly under-appreciated. It was incredibly versatile and flexible.
