Notes: Transform description is messed up lol. Also i shoudlve mentioned in gen 7 the non-imposter sets were more common because after gen 8 speed tiers got too high

I would put Pokémon Gimmick from gen 4 Cherrim as an honorable mention. Despite the unimpressive stats, he taught us that in meta Uber with Groudon next to him, it gives him that extra 1.5x boost in attack and special defense to both and be very tough to have against

I'm sure Mimikyu counts as a gimmick pokémon due to disguise, and it has been a VGC staple for 7 years at this point.

Oh also friendly reminder that if Smeargle comes back in the dlc, not only is it gonna gain access to Silk Trap, which it probably won't run since it works like King's Shield, but it's also gonna get DECORATE which is horrifying

Omg it’s dawned on me how good tera water araquanid would be. Add rain and you have 5 different multipliers on liquidation including item, and three layers of fire resist with the natural resist from pure water type, plus losing all the bug types weaknesses

I never knew ditto could transform into YOUR OWN pokemon. That's so cool.

There is actually 1 more precedent to only Darkrai being able to use dark void starting SM, and that's that in ORAS only hoopa unbound could use Hyperspace Fury. I believe smeargle could sketch it but not use it in-battle (or in contests, funnily enough).
