Hey a trick on the headlamps is if you pull it down around your neck when interacting with others around camp helps keeping the light out of others eyes as well
  • @yonikki
I'd like to add a necessity when camping with children. We have 6! 😮 Bring a rubber door mat for tent entry so dirty shoes don't transfer mud/sand into sleeping area. Just rinse it off or shake it out each morning to "reset." Lol

I’ve been camping since the mid 1950’s and agree with your choice of gear. Things have gotten lighter and more versatile. I also think it’s a good idea to try out your gear in your own yard if possible to prevent a major disappointment far from home! Thanks for sharing and may I say that you guys make a great couple!!! In the military we called your camp shovel an entrenching tool. Ours had a short wood handle. Amazon has a lot of nice camping items. I've been using alcohol stoves for over 60 years and they have one that I like the Trangia. I modernized that style of burner with the Titanium Evernew Appalachian set. Titanium cools quicker and weighs a lot less. I get my big three items ( Backpack , Sleeping , Shelter ) from cottage industries. Some things haven't changed , I'm still old fashion , my coffee is cowboy coffee.

Bounce sheets put in your tent keeps spiders and bugs out of your tent. It really works, I used it on my boat in my cabin. Never saw spider in my cabin.

The internal part of the French press fits perfectly into a stanley 2cup kit. That way there's no glass to worry about.
  • @OutdoorQuests
15 awesome camping accessories! I've migrated from old school primitive camping, to glancing with the family, and am now getting back into a simpler camping lifestyle. Some cool items here I need to pickup! Thanks for sharing! -Cody
  • I love Dr Bronner's soap and use it at home but on the trail in bear county I'd suggest the unscented as bears like the smell of both mint and lavender. P.S. bees like the flower scents too.P.P.S. pinetar soap smells like a campfire and as yet it has never attracted any attention from wildlife.

Make sure your white sage is ethically sourced. Some areas are being over harvested, which is why it's harder to find.

Awesome, you guys. My wife and I are taking our 1st camping trip in a few weeks and we are binging your videos. Very informative and your chemistry together is so nice to see. Well done. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge!

6:38 I swear by my Sawyer mini water filter too! And I’ve owned lots of different water filtration devices through the years, this one wins in my book. I’d like to add 2 things: 1.) you can feel really good about this purchase( I think I paid 12 bucks for it) , because the company has given away ONE MILLION and counting to people in 3rd world countries, disaster areas, etc to help provide safe drinking water to the people there. 2) Don’t let it freeze! I always use the plastic syringe to push out any remaining water, and then keep it wrapped with reflectix insulation and stuffed between other items to avoid that. Once the core freezes, you need to go buy a new one. Always have a back up plan for water, obv. Anyway, great video!

Nice tips. One for the older folks…that pillow, which I use for backpacking also make an awesome adjustable lumbar support when needed.
  • @margaretharris65
Just subscribed today!! Thanks for the information. I’m 71 years old and can’t quite carry as much weight as I once did. I’ll be following your videos and sharing them with other “old-timers” like myself. Thanks again! Maggie from Nevada

I've had that mini rocket stove probably for 15 years. When it was around 6 bucks. I have bought another set with the conversion adapter, feet, and pouch from walmart for about 12 bucks. Its just a backup, in case. My 2 absolute favorites out of about 15 coffee making contraptions are the gsi mesh net thing and the aeropress. Now with the aeropress having all the aftermarket stuff like the "espresso" adapter, storage cap, and k cup adapter its even more versatile. They are both soo easy to clean too. Another staple I love is the ohuhu gasifier stove. Can use solid fuel, sticks, and alcohol burner along with other options. A lot of my camping gear I've had since hiking sections of the AT yearly back over 30 years ago. I do have a sawyer mini and a steripen, but the katydyn hiker pro has served me well for around 35 yrs.

I have learned a shovel for a campfire is a must!!! We also use our knives a ton, a must!!! Happy camping xo 😊
  • I know im late to the party... I like the pour over coffee device. Much lighter, nothing to break and delicious coffee. Im about to FT mini van life. Thanks for your suggestion!
  • @Firion28
As a coffee enthusiast also. I recommend swapping teapot and French press for a perculator. It does both of those things saving back pack space
  • @master6676
Just sgaring, My stanley french press has seen over 700 pots made, it is not glass and use it to make larger meals for 2. I use it daily in my semi truck and have one on standby just in case I ever need it. 😂
