tip from a fellow trombonist: use your wrist more when moving the slide, because it helps to have more fluid motions

To keep this professional and informal. (Do not take this the wrong way) things that need to would be tone quality, articulation and overall the handling of the instrument. I see this in many trombone beginner trombone players, now I do not know how new you are to the instrument but either way the issue needs to be addressed. You appear to be scrunching up your wrist and wrapping all fingers around the slide, this restricts you’re ability to maneuver the slide at a faster rate, thus not being able to keep up with faster tempos and ultimately fumbling into the notes. I highly suggest keeping your hand more open and only keeping your pointer, middle finger and thumb on the actual slide. Not only this but you seem to be using air to “ tongue” notes, this is making all your notes sound muddled and heavily slurred. For proper legato, I suggest making the “do” sound and for short staccatos, making the “ti” sound this will open up your sound allowing it to actually resonate through the instrument, improving your tone and overall musicality. Do not take my words as hurtful or critical, but merely as helpful in an “looking out for you” kinda way.

I agree with @goose3811 also try moving your slide faster and tongue a bit firmer to prevent an unwanted glissando

Best way I can describe how to tongue is to tah your sound as the t sound should control the breath flow. Say tah, play tah, envelope yourself early in the methods of tah. Learning it early makes it easier to switch over. To make easier try tahts first

you have a nice tone, you just need to tongue your notes instead of slurring them. -trombonist
