There are few things more powerful than the narratives we believe about who we are. When powerhouse pastor, Woman Evolve Founder, and NYT Best Selling Author, Sarah Jakes Roberts experienced trauma in the early stages of her life, the story she began to believe about who she was led her to a period of guilt, sadness and shame. But, she slowly started to listen to the inner voice that asked her to stop defining herself by a moment and to start seeing herself how God saw her. That choice not only changed her world, it would also change the world for millions of people who would experience God through her viral sermons and impactful presence.

How will changing the narrative you believe about your story, change how you show up in the world?

Listen as Sarah sits down with Gia for an intimate one-on-one conversation as she readies the release of her new book, “Power Moves.” Find out how she moves in the major calling on her life, and how a shy teen mom gathered all the pieces of herself to become a powerhouse faith leader.

Get your journals out, this is going to be good.

Sarah’s new book, “Power Moves,” releases on April 30th wherever books are sold. Learn more information about the Woman Evolve conference on WomanEvolve.com.

I’m feeling like a stalker because I’m catching as many of SJR’s interviews promoting her new book as I can. So happy for you SJR and Gia.
  • @sheppardl2
Can we give Gia a shout out for her questions! She did an amazing job 🤎🤎
  • The fact that they pray before they start says so much and I pray that I find myself in life where I pray on everything, I start no matter what it is, big or small.

Sarah really needs to write a book of poetry at this point. She is SUCH a gifted wordsmith.
  • When she said that she had to tell her younger self “you’re free to raise your hands to worship” really sent me 😭 Sarah’s testimony is really relatable for me and I thank her so much for her authenticity, she has helped free me on another level with this one
  • This interview is blowing my mind cause i understand everything SARAH is saying. When you get all your pieces back and look where you was and where you are. Trauma can make you feel you never gonna recover. But when you recover from trauma you just look at life differently

Wherever she show up....I'm watching 😂❤🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
  • “You’re never outside of a space where God can’t reach you, & as long as God can get to you power can get to you!” Whoa, thank you both for this beautiful interview & reminder🙏🏾

Oh Pastor Sarah! I've never had you explain your childhood experiences in this way before. I am so sorry sis! I can relate to your story on so many levels, i got pregnant at 19by such a dysfunctional, immoral and an unbeliever period, But your story brings me so much hope! I want to end up just like you, or even better lol. I want to preach, walk in my fullest potential, reach out to girls like me whether younger or older, inspire, and do the Lord's work period. Im just finding myself now, but i am hoping for more with Jesus
  • At my 33 year old age this conversation just made me feel seen as a little girl. I wasn’t as alone in my mind as I thought I was. This is soo good. Thank you God for leading me to listen and watch
  • I love how she embraces her calling while remaining authentic to herself! Keep evolving and excelling while representing the 80’s babies Preacher Daughters era! I cannot wait to read the book! 📖 🎉🎉❤👑🙌🏾

The guilt and shame are the deepest wounds, I did this in the 80s. It took me years to forgive myself, but God is so faithful! ❤

Gia girl: you did an excellent job with great questions. You even made Sarah teary which is rare, she truly loves you.🥰 Well done and great conversation ladies🎉

The palpability and vulnerability of this candid conversation is so necessary. Love to see my first 1st Lady when I moved to SoCal shining a light on this unspoken, often swept-under-the-rug, plight of preacher's kids behind-the-scenes. We have overcome an overwhelming amount of trauma, trials, church hurt, rejection, naiveté and tribulation to rise to the call of God on our lives and flow deeper in Yahweh's anointing when we surrender to his process and choose healing over hurt. Jesus, self-awareness/accountability, and therapy go hand-in-hand. There is so much power in the cross/blood ofJesus, transparency and testimony – "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death." (Revelation 12:11)

💜Sarah please write a book about the worth, values & tools for honoring who girls/women are outside of our bodies. Cartoons, music & movies are creating the wrong narratives, they start early with polluting our minds.
  • @lateshaward7175
I’ve been that 13 year old girl for so long BUT GOD!! I felt that she told my entire life. I was told to share my story but SJR JUST DID
  • I love that question: What did love give you that life tried to take away? Sarah: The first thing that comes to mind, peace. Courage. I would say courage. I love that answer. Most times, “love” the way I’ve experienced it, was not safe. Again, I love that answer.
  • When you enter the spiritual world, you learn God see us thur christ. The natural body was buried with Christ and the father see us as the spiritual people we will become when we enter into heaven. This is why I look forward to my transition. I can't wait to see who I will become.

I attended her stop in the DMV, in which I felt like I was an outcast/the youngest there. From the moment I stepped in the church, a sense of relief, new beginnings and positivity came over me. I attended alone which was a first for me and hearing your voice Gia helped me so much. I’ve watched you and have been impacted by your podcast for so long I wish I gave you your flowers in person!! Sarah was soooo powerful! I walked out of that church feeling like I was in a new place in my life, empowered is not even the word. Thank you Gia. Thank you SRJ❤
