CHAD "OchoCinco" JOHNSON ROUTE RUNNING Breakdown - NFL Hall of Fame Receiver -

Published 2019-09-19
In this video I breakdown Chad “OchoCinco” Johnson and his route running ability. He is the GOAT of route running and should be a Hall of Famer. The way he is able to release off the line and create separation with his routes is what we will be breaking down today. I hope you enjoy!

  • Please never stop doing what you’re doing . When I make it I’m shouting you out
  • He's better than all the 2022 HoF semi finalists at WR! For some reason the HoF is voted on by people who don't play football, and they don't like that he had fun and celebrated when it wasn't legal. Bc he was a great teammate by all accounts and worked crazy hard. Sleeping at the stadium for 2 years, taking reps with the scout team to go against the ones, etc.
  • Imagine if he had played in Pittsburgh instead of Cincinnati. First 2000 yard season. And the second and the third. He was as uncoverable as AB but had more height and breakaway speed. Wasted in Cinci.

As a Bronco fan, I remember watching 85 torch Champ Bailey. I was shocked caus he is the best corner ever IMO, an never seen him get beat that much.

9:53 if ochocinco even miss times that cut by a second too late hes running into the DB. And if he cuts too early hes not going to allow time for the DB to react to the post and his cut would have been pointless. Timing is everything
  • Chad genius of set up , and he baits DB to try get him to try jam ; that put out position to run or run with cut . Watch him turn his eyes , NOT snapping his head ( would blur vision ) impede ability to track the spin / trajectory of the 🏈

Terry McLaurin was a polished route runner coming out of Ohio St.. Last year he saw every teams #1 corner and absolutely dominated as a rookie. His first step & precision cuts allow him to use his elite 4.3 speed in the most efficient way possible. His contested catch rate is also off the charts. Love this video, playing WR is far more about what you do before the ball is thrown. All too many times we get lost in size and speed at receiver, that couldn’t be farther from the truth!

I adore this video!! I've been praising Ocho's route running skills for years! I watched him all throughout highschool.. All my classmates would go back to school and talk about his celebrations. I would go back to school and talk about the routes he ran on Sunday. He's my 2nd favorite WR of all time, and in my opinion the greatest route runner of all time... Thanks for this video man

If you watch his hands, he is "beating the drum" that's what's helping him get down and come to a stop. Then he's pivoting his hips and getting around
