This is...fucking stunning. Bemani deserves FAR more awareness and recognition for it's place in gaming history. Stuff like this is a work of historic archival importance and I say that with no exaggeration. Great job.
-
Doing the Lord's work for us Bemani boomers 🙏
-
beatmania is so interesting, sad to see it's gone and replaced by IIDX, but I can't complain about it either because IIDX is what keeping beatmania on the name alive
-
36:05 That's hilarious they labeled that sample as Vocal (Female), cause that's actually JAMES BROWN 🤣
-
yes. this is the investigative journalism I crave. hook it up to my veins. good shit
-
I want him to be one of the most highly regarded researchers of the 21st century.
-
This is very impressive work here. I get the feeling the IIDX one is going to be double the length of this video. Still, fantastic work my dude. Same goes to KabulentNought for the help.

18:28 DISTANTCRY ON THE BEAT

Interesting that some these samples also would use on many songs from the first Dance Dance Revolution games, mainly from DDR 1st to EXTREME. Mostly BEMANI composers like Slake, Naoki, 2MB, dj nagureo, use these samples for him compositions on early BEMANI games. (1997 - 2003)

5鍵を好きでいて良かった。 I'm glad I kept loving 5-key series.

Old school samplers were simply the best. Unbeatable sounds

5:08 immediately sent me to places, because I recognized it as german... AND INSTANTLY REALIZED WHAT SONG IT WAS USED IN.
-
37:59 I always tought I was hearing it wrong, but with the full sample I'm now assured that this game calls me stupid lol

I love hearing these and recognizing them from other songs. I had no idea so many bemani samples were from the og series
