I Bought A House | Life Update

Oooh goody, I love housewarming presents! I'd be happy to send along some word signs like "Home," "Gather," "Lather," "Relax," "Eat," Friends," "Laundry," "Family," and of course a "Live Laugh Love" for each and every bedroom.

So excited for the farmhouse aesthetic, word signs, barn doors, shiplap, and tons of painted distressed furniture. yay!

We expect this channel to be a renovation channel for the next few weeks/months. We expect to go furniture shopping together, put in our two cents on paint color and wallpaper (I don’t think I know where you stand on wallpaper). This is going to be fun 😊

Buying a home in Vancouver is impressive enough. Buying a single family home in Vancouver is even more impressive. Renovating that same home AND planning to completely demolish it later to build a brand new luxury home in its place from scratch? Holy shit. Nick is loaded.

Luckily, my spouse and I were able to pay off our mortgage early. We took the money we were spending to accelerate our mortgage repayment and invested it right away while we were both still working. We were able to retire early after accumulating what would have been our home payment for over 7 years and maxing out our 401K/403B plans. Thankfully, both of our parents taught in us the importance of living within our means.

If you're still in Vancouver a single family home is a big accomplishment--the re-decorating will come, and we will all benefit from the discoveries you make along the way. Happy Housewarming!

We also just moved after years in the same home. Within 1 week we painted 3 smaller rooms the exact same colors from our first home. Next, the main areas will be painted the same as the previous house. We are used to warmer tones with warmer lighting. The current dingy light gray with bright clear bulbs everywhere (worse than boob lights) makes this feel like an old prison or hospital. The unpainted parts of the house- feel like a strange airBNB. I Thought we were odd for picking the same colors so It’s nice to feel like we are not the only ones doing that. Let the painting begin. It’s exhausting but always worth it. Congratulations!

The best thing about Reolink is that it's not cloud based so you control the footage and you don't have to worry about your cameras shutting off because they decided to stop supporting it.

Grats on your new house!! You may be sitting on a dog bed, but it's a very TASTEFUL dog bed!

I really recommend working with a landscaper to replace the lawn with low care shrubs, perennial flowers and low care trees, unless of course you like the lawn! Do whatever is best for you.

Congratulations Nick! I do hope you take us along on your home’s rejuvenation journey. You know we love that stuff!

Things I’ve learned about owning a lawn: 1) the more you water the more it grows. 2) if you cut it too short it turns brown, so raise your mower and cut small bites at a time. 3) just hire a gardener, ask your neighbors to find one.

Make sure you put all the furniture against the wall, get a nice small rug and some verticals for the living room, add a seaside/marine theme in the bathroom, hang all the artwork up high and have a ball making your new home 😏. Congrats Nick - love you and your videos!

I’ve watched nearly every single one of your videos you’ve ever made, but I missed the life update! I hope the absolute best for both of you. Congratulations on buying a great home for yourself in a beautiful neighborhood! The apartment was so gorgeous and sophisticated and while the modern finishes and all the natural light played a part in that, it looked like your style really really shined. Your new house will be beautiful in no time and you may fall in love with it enough to not ever tear down!! You’ve got this!
