  • Some of my best memories, being a young kid in the 70's, was going camping and dirtbike riding, with my parents, grandparents, and uncle, in the late 70's, and very early 80's. Amazingly Cherished Memories. A family that rides together, stays together. My Grandmaw even had an old Honda ST-90, I think it was, and she even rode, pulling wheelies! Lmao. Words, couldn't possibly describe, how badly I miss my Parents and Grandparents. Not a day goes by, that I don't think of them. Some of the most beautiful, unconditionally loving human beings that ever lived. Ken Sr, You and My Dad would have been the best of friends. Dad owned some 2 stroke Kawasaki streetbikes, before I was born in 1973. God Bless Sr and Jr, and the Kaplan Motorcycle Museum.

Harley must employ a massive amount of engineers. It cant be easy getting such big heavy motors to make such little power.

Thank you for your time and videos of these great events! I got to watch hill climbs at the Iron Horseman club in Bristol Indiana for many years. Great memories.

Somewhere in this world is my old outlaw kart "500" Had a Kawasaki bottom with the 89mm stroke mated to a Cr top end, 48mm lectron carb with almost no flywheel.. the cylinder was built by streamline racing engines and had "twisted" transferports that allow the fuel and air to spiral on the dome of the piston giving a full charge of fuel and air. We estimated around 100hp ish! Would be an excellent hillclimb engine. It was a one of a kind ;)

In the 1970's my Dad took me a couple times to The Widow Maker Hill Climb, in Salt Lake City Utah. 1500 feet of hell..Incredible!

In the late 90s, the only bike that beat my YZ490 at glamis was a CR500 on ALCOHOL. I made a custom Frankinpipe from a YZ250 expansion chamber with the 490, cut squash pan, o ringed head 11:01 comp / 4" swing arm ext.. & it spun high , almost like a 250. The 490 had a long rod, short stroke big bore & took the rpm's year after year... Air cooled screaming dinosaur was smokin all the 500's You couldn't push water pumpers that hard, head gasket issues....

My dad always said “the day I’ll buy a Harley is the day I shouldn’t be riding anymore” and when asked why he’d say “I’ll spend more time working on it than riding it”. Harleys aren’t for me but hey if you like the ride more power to ya
  • @thorgeirnable
Everyone wants to crap on the harleys but harleys engines have been purposely kept retro, for retro look and feel. It's a modern engine with a rather ancient design.
