Who Makes The Longest Lasting Tire Shine? Meguair's, Turtle Wax, 303, Chemical Guys, Ammo, and More!

In this video we are going to take a look at who makes the longest lasting tire shine. I personally have not had much luck with these types of products lasting more than a week on a daily driven vehicle. So with this in mind I set out to find who actually makes the longest lasting tire shine. I have products in this video from Meguairs, 303, Adams, Turtle Wax, Ammo, Chemical Guys, Trinova, and ExoForma.

Some of these products are listed as tire coatings and others have tire shine written on the bottle. So from a consumer standpoint based on what is written on the bottle some of these should last a lot longer than others. With the exception of 1 product they all hold up about the same length of time regardless of what is written on the bottles. The Turtle Wax product was the worst offender of this. Just reading the long name makes you think that product will last a very long time. It doesn't...

A few years ago Turtle Wax made an aerosol that I sprayed on my truck tires, it lasted almost a year of daily driving in all types of weather, I ran it through a carwash one time and they sprayed wheel cleaner on them and it ate it off. Of course Turtle Wax pulled it off the market because an $8 can would do 2 vehicles and last a year, no money to be made I guess.

I've always liked the 303 product and its matte finish. Thank you for testing all of these. Well done! 👍

I gave the Exoforma a shot this spring. Prior to application, I deep cleaned the tires about 3x with Adams wheel/tire cleaner because I have a lot of it handy. The whole process was pretty time consuming for a tire shine application. I'll probably do it again on my next set of tires, but for most people I can see it being too much work for too little gain. The gloss didn't last very long, but dirt doesn't stick to the tire. As long as you don't apply other tire shines over it, you can wipe your hand on the tire without anything noticeable coming off after months of driving. A quick rinse with a hose or a drive through rain will clear what dust has accumulated. A quick wash with just car soap will restore the uniform deeper matte look. So, in effect, it's coated, but it's not going to be "shiny" for very long (as their ads suggest).

That permashine truly is a gnarly product!! It almost feels like glue while your putting it on lol

Walmart untouchable wet tire shine is by far the best for the money on tire AND plastic trim. Last for 6-7 months on the faded plastic and makes it look like new. I have been using it for 3 years and very few times.. $4.50 for the can. The best value and long lasting look. I hope that helps.
  • Much thanks for your time and money spent. I was wondering the same. I usually buy requires and mothers products

I've been using Lone Star tire dressing with great results. No sling and last months.
  • I really liked the Street Legal Ultimate Wet Tire Shine Spray.. Didn't sling on me and looked awesome. It lasted until we had a huge storm that I drove in. The fronts still had some on, but the back wheels were done. Next carwash I just added it again.

Great review. My favorites are Tac Systems Tire Coat (Superb looks and decent durability) and Bouncer's Dress to Impress (glossier, with durability 3-4 weeks on a daily driver). Have tried the so-called "semi-permanent" coatings, and yes, they last longer but nonetheless degrade and are prone to unsightly scuffs. Have accepted that no tire shine maintains its intended look for more than a few weeks at most.
  • If you don’t mind me making a suggestion. Maybe next test, space tires out and set bottle of what was applied to its section, in the section and do a circle walk around so we can visualize the bottle/brand and what it did to the tire. Other than that, a thorough test in my opinion. 👍

Liked and Subscribed! Maybe sometime you can try the Car Guys one. Saw some good tests on it, love to see how it compares to your top pick.
