Adrian Wellock lost his sense of taste. After suffering a cold, he started getting a metallic taste in his mouth, which took his palate with it. These days, he only eats foods that are simple to chew and adds spice and herbs to ratchet up the smell. Find out what it's like when everything, actually tastes like nothing.

I remember watching this 5 years ago thinking “Damn this would really suck. I hope this doesn’t happen to me” And here I am quarantining with no sense of taste, smell, and difficulties breathing đŸ€ĄđŸ€ĄđŸ€Ą

My friend who was born with no taste says that prepping a meal is like an added chore that he doesn’t like doing but understands he must eat to survive. This hit hard when he said this and I’ve never forgotten. I appreciate my sense of taste immensely.

Plot twist: He can taste everything but he just wanted a free meal
  • I lost my sense of taste and smell during covid for couple of days before it slowly started coming back. I could still physically feel the 'texture' of what I was chewing, so I could tell salad from bread for example, but the flavour was nonexistent to me.

I lost my sense of taste for a few days when I had coronavirus. Was absolutely petrified of losing it forever. Thankfully it returned, but that brief period without it was brutal. The first day, I had a bowl of cream of mushroom soup and figured I’d throw in some cayenne pepper to try and “wake up” my taste buds. Nope. Eating something spicy without being able to taste it is hell on earth to me. I then found myself eating things solely based on texture. Cereal became a fast favorite of mine, it’s a very texturally interesting food. I just about cried when I found I could taste again. God bless this guy. He’s living my nightmare.

When me and a few guys were in elementary school we dreamt of not being able to taste. And the ability to eat super healthy without tasting the food. But now I see how much I enjoy the taste of food.

imagine if we could just disable taste buds temporarily for people who're trying to lose weight i know it's unrealistic, but i think it'd work really well

I remember watching this a couple years ago. I thought it was just a peculiar and cool thing to experience. Now I hope he gets his taste back if he wants because now I relate to this video. I can’t taste anything like him but I also lost my sense of smell. It really sucks.
