I'm going to be real for a sec. I was a little Black boy living in Oakland Ca, and loved that movie like no other. I have watched that movie more times than I can remember. I never noticed the confederate flag on that car until I saw someone complaining about it a couple years ago. Let me tell you this. I didn't care about it then, and I don't care about it now. I will still sit back and watch that movie with the same joy In my heart as if I was a kid. Those who never watched, and complained couldn't see every race helping the Bandit, frog who is very beautiful, and the infamous Snowman! CGI action movies today can't touch the real action and stunt scenes, and the comedic genius of Jackie. When I got old enough, and funds was good enough. You damn right I bought me a Trans Am!
  • @screenpuller
That Trans Am is STILL sexier than half the cars being made today.
  • This movie couldn't have been done any better and will never be repeated.
  • You can keep "The Fast and the Furious". 1 man, 1 car, 1 truck, 1 load, 1 mission.

I became a truck driver as a result of seeing this movie when I was 11years old. I have been driving for 33 years now, own my truck and trailer, and have owned a black trans am… thanks for the memories!

I was 2 months shy of my 7th birthday when my Mom took me to see this masterpiece. Seeing Sally's tomboy nature celebrated instead of shamed was a BIG moment for that 6 year old girl. My Dad noticed the impact it made on me too, and for my 7th birthday he painted my pink Barbie car black and stenciled a gold phoenix on the hood. 🖤

I was 16 when I sat in the theater and watched Burt drive that Trans Am out of the truck. At that moment me and everyone else wanted one. 40 years later one sits in my garage coming out in nice days. It’s an absolute blast! I call her “The way back machine”. RIP Burt
  • By Burt looking into the camera, he pulled the audience right into the movie with them all and made us part of it. Genius move.

I remember my father taking me to see this in the theatre. He laughed like hell every time Jackie Gleason opened his mouth. I still watch this movie today as a 53 year-old man and remember those good times.

As a 70's kid this and Convoy seemed cool. I got my CDL because of these movies.
  • @MickAngelhere
Burt looking into the camera and smiling was brilliant because it allowed the audience to be part of the fun , a classic film 👍👍

"Eastbound and Down" was the last song my Pops and I ever got to listen to together. Thank you Jerry Reed.
  • I was 8 years old and my dad took me to see it against my mom's wishes, Smokey & The Bandit and Star Wars from 1977 were two movies from my childhood that left the biggest impressions on me.

Makes me so sad to see a lot of these great people are already gone.
  • The original 'Smokey and the Bandit' was essentially a 'B' movie meant for Drive-In's as the opening feature to other 'first-run' shows in 1977. The Mustang Drive-In near Peterborough, Ontario ran the movie for over 2 months as the featured film (the second movie to be shown nightly). The Mustang was the largest Drive-in theatre in Canada at the time, and lines of vehicles waiting to go through the temporary quadruple box office entrance spread in two directions. By the Provincial Police (who were doing traffic control nightly) it was estimated each line of cars was over a mile in length north and south. I lived in the rural subdivision where the Mustang was located, from early June to mid-August 1977 that line-up of Drive-in patrons stretched past my house (going north). My Dad finally took our family to see the movie at the Mustang (and to see what all the fuss was about) in the first week of August of that year, and the Drive-In was still at-near capacity. Smokey and the Bandit made history.

    CB radios,Coors beer,Burt Reynolds and a black Trans Am….still a classic…Thank you Burt..RIP
  • @dianebyrne9846
My dad was the director of photography on this movie! Bobby Byrne! He passed away on 3-9-2017 ( RIP dad) and my stepmom gave me the clap board for this movie! My dad didn’t like to many people in Hollywood, but he liked Burt.
  • My Dad took me to see Smokey And The Bandit when it first came out, I was 14 years old, we laughed so hard through the whole movie, truly one of the best days of my life, and still my favorite movie after all of these years!
