2009 Cobalt SS Turbocharged K04+ Dyno

Published 2012-02-02
Here's my 2009 Chevy Cobalt Turbocharged being dyno'd on a dynojet. It was about 60*F outside and I'm on 91 Octane winter blend. I ended up with 347WHP and 397WTQ. Not as high as I was hoping, but still satisfied.

Performance Mods; K&N SRI, ZZP Upper Charge Pipe, Forge Bypass Valve, Trifecta Tuned, Treadstone TR8 Intercooler, Peformance Autowerks Big Wheel Upgrade, ZZP Spun Metal Catted Downpipe, and ModernPerformance Catback Exhaust.

I think that's it for go fast parts.

I live in Colorado & their emissions tests are strict as well. My mods now are; K&N SRI, ZZP UCP, Forge BPV, TR8 Intercooler, ZZP Catted DP, K04+, Terminator HPTuned, Pedder Springs, OTTP S2 Mounts, ZZP Valve Springs, MPx Catback, TWM STS, etc (running out of characters to respond). My car is a great DD, rides a little stiff, but I take care of her, she takes care of me. No major issues yet, currently 30k miles. I bought my car used with 1k miles, second owner, but really her first.

I recently purchased John Powell PCV oil separator to help with valve coking and blow by. I will say this, my mods were geared to address the weak components of my car. Plastic intercooler, plastic bypass valve, plastic this, etc. The only real mod I did strictly for performance gains was the K04+ and that's such a mild turbo upgrade I considered it safe for DD. It only adds 40whp.

Wow, that's incredible. I am only on the GMS1, absolutely no other mods. For now I'm glad though because I was having a 'check engine' light that was perpetually on. Since it's still under warranty GM spent over a month w/my car in their shop. It ended up being cracks in the tops of 2 pistons. My car is an 09 SS/TC sedan and they ended up replacing injectors, coils, pistons/rings/bearings on top/bottom + more & paying for a mont of rental car. Would've cost me over $5k for all they did.

Very nice list. Thanks for the reply. I really enjoy this car. It's amazing what is possible. Cheers!

Yeah not for long, I just switched to HPTuners, and I make more than 347 hp I'm sure. At least more Torque if not.

I hate the 500 character limit... Anyway, I'm at 50k miles now and warranty will time-expire in another year or so. I am considering similar upgrades to what you've done. I have several questions if you don't mind. 1. - Does your state have very stringent emissions standards? (I'm in AZ, they DO) 2. - What exact mods do you have now? You mentioned they're different from this vid. 3 - Is it still practical as a daily driver in its current form? Thx ahead of time for your response.
