Egyptian Geese and goslings in St James's Park, London.
The Egyptian goose is an African member of the Anatidae family including ducks, geese, and swans.Egyptian geese aren't true geese, they're members of the shelduck sub-family, Tadorninae. They are naturally found in Africa, in the Nile valley and south of the Sahara.
This pale brown and grey goose is related to the Shelduck. Look for its distinctive dark brown eyepatches and contrasting white wing patches in flight. It was introduced to ornamental ponds, but escaped into the wild where it's now successfully breeding.
