Just flip the fire brick that's slightly damaged over to get an undamaged surface and voila you're done for another year. Ray

  • Hey Mike I heated my 3400 sq ft split foyer with a wood stove for 35 years. You have to clean your flu right after the last fire and I would cap my masonry chimney to keep the rain out. If you don’t the smell will permeate into the house. The other down side is no filtering the air inside the structure. I ran my fan on the air handler that had an electronic air filter with a 4” pleated filter. Free heat with low cost to filter it. Have a day😊

Mike, you are getting so smooth with your sponsorship promos that you could start selling "Veg-e-matics" or "Pocket Hoses."

Mike, that’s a pretty impressive stacked and stickered pile of lumber there behind you!

I had a job on July 27 with a repeat client that went 7 hours with no break. 16 logs (most were walnut, 4 cherry, 1 maple, and 1 short maple that produced 5 cookies (25"x31" by 2.5 thick). He scaled the job at 2393 BF (I don't know which scale he used). He texted me this past Monday because he needed to measure the lot for the kiln that he is bringing them to. He measured 3390 board feet! Woodmizer LT40 Wide, 38 hp Kohler.
  • I enjoy the fall here in Western Pa As well, my favorite time of the year. Just wish it lasted longer As I get older I learn to accept winter as a time to relax, refresh, rest and regenerate. Then in Feb it's time to start my garden and flower seeds for the spring.
  • Fall Colors in Michigan are awesome too! Plus, after first frost no more bugs. 😆👊

Another great video Mike. I always bought saw logs using International scale. We sawed hardwood and softwood 1/8th thicker for our flooring products. Gave us more material to flatten the boards during the final milling process.

Im not a big fan of the smell of red Oak but it is a great firewood as you say. Cheers
  • I agree . I’m in eastern Ohio not to far and you can’t beat the 4 seasons we get, especially fall.

Good morning Morgans and friends. We did get a bit of rain a few days ago, not nearly enough but it will have to do. I would love a trailer load of the milled lumber, locally the prices are ridiculous. Mike's got everyone milling lumber now, you would think prices would come down?😮 I hope everyone has a great day, be safe. Do a good deed today and we'll see you all down the road...... Thanks.
  • Good morning y'all !!! Enjoy your day, send us some rain in British Columbia, we can use it. Thanks !

When spring ends, I look forward to fall and winter!

I have been cutting and splitting wood since i was 15. I just turned 68. Red oak is the best! I went outside one cold spell here in NH when it was -32. Those big chunks of red oak popped open with my old maul. Thanks for the videos Mike.
  • We grew up burning red oak in our wood stove. Daddy would get it by the tractor trailer load. He'd cut it with the chain saw, and I'd split it w/ the maul (i was early to mid teens). So i learned real quick about the natural split in the center where to line up the maul strike. Thanks for another great video.

Mike, is it me or is your debarker head running out of the cut line lower then your saw blade? Maybe it's me, some sort of trick of the camera. Starts At 11:56mins into the posting Sorry if this upset you
