Ok fine. I like Opera... Vocal Coach Reacts to PAVAROTTI "Nessun Dorma" (first time analysis)

Published 2024-07-19
In this video, I, a contemporary voice specialist, react to Luciano Pavarotti operatically singing his socks off. This performance of “Nessun Dorma” was one of the most incredible things I have ever heard.

Watch Pavarotti leave me awestruck as I analyse his soul shattering vocal performance, explain and demonstrate his vocal techniques (from an anatomical perspective) and ultimately tell you what I think made him so unbelievably great.

I can clearly see why Luciano Pavarotti is a household name. I have never encountered such resonance from a human and I am eager to discover how other opera singers compare! As always, please leave your suggestions in the comments.

If we are meeting for the first time, HELLO GORGEOUS! I'm Lolli, a voice teacher and vocal anatomy nerd specialising in contemporary techniques. I have a degree in vocal performance, and I am studying for a masters degree in voice pedagogy. I sing aaaall the time! Pop, jazz, rock, metal, soul, Hindustani, Carnatic and I am constantly learning and practising new vocal skills. I just bloody love singing. It's my favourite thing in the whole world, and because I love you, I want you to sing too.

I believe everyone can sing, and my mission with this channel is to break down techniques that are so often portrayed as something to be exclusively accessed by people with a special talent. Well. Special talents can be learnt, and I am here to teach them to you.

If you want to hear a really amazing vocalist, listen to some of lolli’s own videos. She’s an incredible singer.
  • @sglavan
Your tears while watching and listening to this performance - I’m right there with you, Lolli, every time.
  • @Rosiepooh75
Pavarotti singing Caruso is also quite an experience. He is my favorite opera singer of all time
  • @matthansen758
Would love to see you react to opera legend Jussi Björling. When Pavarotti once was compared to him he said "Please I'm only human" which shows how humble Pavarotti was. Björlings version of Nessun Dorma is so angelic, and his swedish version of O Holy Night (O Helga Natt) is so powerful as well. Truly one of the masters.

I’ve been listening to Pavarotti sing for 45 years, and crying to this one for the same amount of time. Thank you so much, Lolli.
  • Especially pleased to see your visceral reaction to this beauty...this stuff taps into such a rare ...experience, I guess...I feel the same way

Your are absolutely the best at Anatomical Forensic Vocal analysis by description, demonstration, and translation! Your emotional description conveys and complements your analysis. Pavarotti's version and performance of Nessun Dorma is definitely the best Tenor performance ever!!! I have listened to Pavarotti for over 30 years and never knew how he did it. You helped me get one step closer. You are never too old to learn!
  • You're such a font of knowledge Lolli! Forever appreciative of your videos.

  • @ClandOp
I've seen dozens of reactions to this performance. This is absolutely the best. Elizabeth's analysis is now #2. Lolli, I hope you know what a compliment that is!
  • @AlricGeorg
why you are my favorite voice specialist. not only because of your knowledge of the techniques and your skill of recognizing them, its the passion. the passion for the music and let your emotions feel the music as well. I often cry more because of you crying at the music. you are a beautiful person and i love your videos! And i feel Pavarotti is one of, if not, the best singer!
  • @pibiposta
Your emotion is so sincere and moving that I coldn't concentrate on the singing but only on your reaction. And I was born very near the city where Pavarotti was born, and, of course we all know him and love him so much!
  • @antivanti
If you are doing more opera singers I have two requests: Jussi Björling (by many, including Pavarotti considered the best there ever was) Elizabeth Zharoff (The Charismatic Voice)
  • In your first listen through you reacted just like me when I first heard the great Pavarotti sing Nessun Dorma... Could not stop crying. Great explanation again.
