Here's the parts you need to build a budget 4K video editing PC for under $1000 in 2024! You will be able to edit videos in Premiere Pro and Da Vinci Resolve (or basically any other editing software), as well as edit photos, mix music, game, and live stream.

This video will show you all the parts you need, as well as explain why I recommend them. In addition, I have also added some upgrade parts that are a bit more expensive but should make this computer even faster.

Thank you for this! Been looking for a good desktop for my video editing

I have almost the same PC with the 3060Ti instead of the 3060. Initially went for 32gb of ram and in 4K the pc was STRUGGLING. Once I put 32gigs more bringing the total to 64, 4K editing - especially with h265 - is buttery smooth. Keep that in mind.

For folks from India, I have checked the prices on 'Amazon India' for the parts mentioned above and the grand total comes to Rs. 97,360/- (i.e. approximately $1,166 USD). Hope this helps!😊

It's like you knew I was looking for an update on this! Used your previous guide to get a pre-built (Ryzen 7 5700x w/ RTX3060) and just seeing how it holds up in 2024. THANKS!!

Hi Matt, thank you for this great video. Is this pc good enough to create animations on after effects? I also animate on unreal engine and blender.
  • @danmccormack
I did this (from your instructions) in late 2019 - will prob do it now again as it's worked perfectly... Been looking at these mini systems that are packed with power - but no dedicated GPU so they didn't get my $$$...

Based on this video, I just finished my first ever computer build. Posting this comment using it! Though I work in IT at a school and have made many repairs and hardware changes, this was the first time buying parts for and building an editing computer from the ground up. I am a videographer on the side and my 2017 MacBook Pro was just not cutting it anymore. This video was extremely helpful! Thank you!.
  • @wedfilmco770
Thank you for the info. Do you have a more upgraded build video/kit for 2024 on the way?
  • @Matt I was wondering in terms of davinci resolve studio is it okay to create separate partition of project files with cache file or just put put project file with main os
  • now if i wanted to bump up to editing 6k what would i add or change to this list for that performance?
  • @user-rn3ju9ve6i
The bottleneck for the cpu and gpu is 25% when performing Processor Intense Tasks (video editing) is this suppose to be okay?
  • How much would this change if I also wanted the ability to do music production as well?
  • @ericsinchina
Where im at, i just cant find a b760...they're all b760m. Losing anything by using the smaller version?
  • @azntactical4884
I am using the 14900k, 64gb ram, msi b760m mortar. No graphics card yet. It is still a beast doing light editing for 4k.
  • @backlinefilms
Idiocracy reference almost the best part of this video!
