Ragnar Lothbrok (Lodbrok) is a legendary leader and the main character in the show Vikings. In a time where power and respect meant everything, he was able to rise up from being a simple farmer to a ruler, to a king.

In this video we will break down 5 ways Ragnar is able to command respect from everyone around him and how you can do the same in your own life. You don't have to pick them all, so you can pick the ones that fit you the best.

Another tip to add: When Ragnar speaks, he does so in concrete and precise language. He does not flaunt, he does not stammer, he does not hesitate. Ragnar expresses his ideas clearly and with conviction, which you can also achieve by creating strong mindsets and fully commiting to whatever you start to say.

How to command respect in medieval times: 1) hit them with a giant axe 2) laugh

Ragnar has the best poker face I've seen. He always smiles, even when he's angry. Which shows that you can never know what he's thinking by looking at his face.

Albert Einstein said this: “I speak to everyone in the same way, whether he is the garbage man or the president of the university.” I think that is the best way to earn respect 🙌
  • I like how you pointed out Ragnars faults too. Just goes to show that everyone doesn’t work in absolutes.

Mom: "Why is your room so dirty?" Me, speaking calmly and concisely "We are focused on larger goals."

This was fun to watch. Ragnar is by far one of my favorite historical tv characters of all time. You dissected him well. You should do Uhtred of Bebbanburg next.

Never demand respect. That is also one of the quickest way to lose it.

Ragnar has other qualities that command his respect. He thinks outside the box and does whatever it takes to win. People love to follow winners because they feel like theyre on the right path. He forgives those close to him but not after theyve felt his wrath. This works both ways though since it made an enemy out of Rollo but a close friend and extremely loyal follower in Floki. I think the show did a great job in portraying Ragnar. They showed him as a human who has feelings. He was devestated and still thought of his daughter seasons after his daughter died. He made mistakes. He is very relatable

The eye contact and low clam voice does magic. I learned along time ago that I don't have to like you, but if we have to work together we work, have made some friends that way.

Have genuine respect for yourself and people will respect you. How you get that genuine respect for yourself is by self-improvement. And whoever is reading this, I wish you the very best! :)

I started watching your channel because I wanted to learn to negotiate better salaries, but I ended up using these skills to deal with emotional customers, conflict deescalation, and literary analasys.

And yet by the end, Ragnar seems like he wished he would've stayed a simple farmer.
  • 1. Do something out of your comfort zone 2. show them interest and they will eventually show interest in you 3. Being clam and control makes you look more confident 4. "A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way." John C. Maxwell 5. Trying to see through others' eyes, makes it easier to apologize. An apology goes a long way to maintaining peace every day.

I'm a simple man. I see" viking" in the title, I click on the video.

Ragnar is the best example on how to earn respect. I cried so much when he faked his death and the second time when he actually died. It is like I know him as a real person not just as character.
  • @pyschologygeek
Sitting silently with a friend who is hurting may be the best gift we can give.
  • Ragnar Lothbrok shall always remain one of the greatest characters in television, and with his death, the show just lost me.
