I guess. there are many theories on how thomas could be faster Either the Magic railroad still stands in the CGI Era. where magic makes the locomotives on sodor much much faster. Thomas having more enhancements then a normal E2 Tank engine. i mean come on. he's literally smaller than his average counter part. Thomas having experience out running enemies. he outran diesel 10 and so that gives him more speed to outrun spencer perhaps the Jet engine manipulated thomas's speed. plot speed Or determination. To be fair. CGI Thomas is much much more of a daredevil and adventurous than his classic counter part.

I feel like this could be possible if thomas used more of his cheeky wit. Not to out run Spencer but to out maneuver Spencer. He probably knows sodors tracks better than Spencer does. I wonder if being smaller means thomas has a faster acceleration than Spencer.

If we’re being honest, that cocky A4 had it coming.

i've said this somewhere in another video (that im sure is been taken down/copyrighted), but i like to think the steam engines on Sodor have not only been as updated as they can be (i mean if they can rebuild a A3 engine like Gordon into a streamline consept then its possible the Engines on Sodor have some updated changes that still make them useful) i also think they can push past there usual limits, Thomas and friends has never been super realistic to begin with, sure there are moments that make the story FEEL realistic, but, we are talking about engines that seem to have ever so sligth control of themselves (i mean if it wasn't obvious in the CGI when it first came out they close there eyes and seem to focus when they blow there whistle), sure they would need a Fireman and Driver, but i believe that even a E2 engine, mainly built for Shunting and on the small chance pull passangers, like thomas could if not can just match the Speed of a A4 to just stay ahead (plus i love this so quit trying to add so much realistic into a kids show about talking trains)
