  • I wish I could perform well below expectations at my job and then receive a 1000% raise
  • @pimpjuice811
I think it's fuk'd up that they are paying QBs based on the current/projected market value instead of their performance BUT switchup and get downright disrespectful when it comes to RBs 😒.
  • @reviseandrise
It's not like franchise quarterbacks have filled the Jaguars organization for decades 🤷‍♂️
  • Don't forget that Jacksonville was on a roll until key players, including Lawrence and his top receiver - Kirk, got hurt. By your logic, a fantastic QB on a shitty team should never get paid.
  • @Noahdventure
Going to the Super Bowl is not a measure of good someone is lol
  • What happens when you force him to play 2 years franchise tag him, and he doesn’t want to sign with you? He’s a human, maybe he doesn’t want to deal with the bullshit. It’s an easy signing, he’s the best qb we’ve had in 15+ years
  • @yaboisleez
After seeing how prices jump on competent QBs, it makes sense to lock the guy up if you want him for 3 more years. You dont wanna get Dak'd.
  • @marvinshenk
In 5 years, the Jags owner will have made a couple billion dollars from yearly revenue, and his franchise will be worth a couple billion more whether or not Lawrence is their QB. He doesn't need to be a good QB, he just has to not completely suck. He's just playing the part in the movie because someone has to. All of this is entertainment after all.

And Gardner was the same age Trevor is now as a rookie..
  • I disagree that this deal could be a bargain in a couple years. Everyone is constantly restructuring now. If he greatly improves in the next 2 years he’ll be negotiating again, and they’ll adjust his contract and pay him more
  • @jacksauce
What this shows is that the Jaguars have confidence that Trevor Lawrence will perform well this year and that his market value will increase after this season.
  • It's not a case of whether it's deserved or not. You either pay your QB or your team becomes the Carolina Panthers if your owner and GM aren't careful.

The NFL is a microcosm of the US, and the QBs are the CEOs of their teams.
  • @chefgoose777
Do any of them deserve it.?.? Besides maybe Mahommes
  • From the team standpoint this was an amazing deal. His only getting $15M this season And in 2025 he's only getting $17M And he's showing to improve each year.

They have him for at least two more years. The franchise tag would sour the relationship like Washington with Cousins but the Jags can easily wait one more year before deciding on an extension. Yes, the price will be higher next year but I argue that if Lawrence has not stepped it up next year, he ain't worth hanging on to and having a QB like that locked in for five years and eating up cap space is worse than paying a higher salary a year later. I say with QBs you should have a good assessment of a guy after three years and you've got the fourth if it's iffy. But didn't the Daniel Jones contract teach anyone anything? Teams are so scared of having no quarterback that they'll commit to years of mediocrity. Lawrence went number 1 overall. He should be an outright star at this point but he isn't. He's alright but I think they extended him based on the pre-draft hype of who he was supposed to be. Well if he's going to turn into that guy then I figure it will be this year or never so wait a year for the extension.

This is going to hurt some feelings, but why is Herbert even in this conversation?
