This was filmed about one week after Iniki with my very practical dad driving with no windshield, wearing goggles, going up north through Hanalei to check on friends and some properties up towards Haena.

I was there, good lordy this vid brings back memories! At the time I was 23 and worked at Hanalei Bay Resort as a cook. My girlfriend and I took refuge in one of their rooms during the storm coz I knew my 'condo' up the hill in Princeville was gonna get ripped apart...which it did. Actually, she and I conceived a daughter as the storm roared around us. It was a brutal hurricane and the following weeks were not fun at all. ha ha, camera passed Big Save (we called i Big Burn) and the Tahiti Nui!
