Damn I miss those good old days, Resistance 2 was such a good game. I never knew why it wasnt such a succes like other triple A titles

I always found the Chimera as the most terrifying alien species ever. Not as much because they transformed humanity into an endangered species (but also every encounter with them was terrifying in the games, making you clear that there was no way to winning a war against them), as because they are a virus hive mind. You might think "there are plenty of those in fiction". Yeah, but normally they are animalistic. Unlike the Chimera, who have technology thousands of years more advanced than humankind.

Resistance had so much potential and it deserves a spotlight! Honestly, if they made a prequel set in Russia, I think it could be successful. Imagine that: A survival horror game that puts the player into a scenario in which the armies of the largest country on Earth are starting to be overrun. Malikov creates the Cloven. The Cloven go crazy and sack Moscow. You could be put up against early Chimeran warriors, the Cloven, and even hostile humans desperate to survive. You could even encounter the series' "mythical" creatures, like the Leben Geist. If they wanted to stick with the military theme of the previous games, then they could make the protagonist a soldier and maybe have him be part of an effort to stop the Chimera from breaching the border wall. It would really stand out among other games of the genre, as it's a unique mix between an alien invasion scenario and a sort of zombie apocalypse.

I’ve always wanted to know more bout the lore behind these guys. My life has been made better!
  • The chimera remembers me about the tyranids from 40k universe but with high levels of technology + cyborgs and not just eating all the life of a world but making all the life of world one of them, in 40k standarts with some rebalancing in combat they would become a very powerful race.
  • The ending of Resistance 2 is still one of the best endings in first person shooters.
  • @Morgan-mi9el
I haven't played resistance for ages it's good to remember it

  • @SirMemesly
I remembered playing this game back in 2008, it gave me nightmares because of the cutscene where the protagonist (Nathan Hale) we're swarmed by the Crawlers(creepy, crawlies, cockroach type of enemies) and went inside his mouth.
  • @gamiezion
as a huge fan of the series... i applaud how well you have captured the essence and terror the chimera brought.
  • Brotherhood, Strength, Fortitude, In the face of the Angry Night. Never a more Badass Statement! For the Tsar!
  • @goblinsrevenge
Great video, the lore around the Chimera was nicely balanced between explained and mystery to keep you interested. Also, I'm now remembering the days of playing Resistance 2 online co-op. Now that was some real fun either it be with the full 8 players or just 2 players! I always picked the special-ops class :)
