A piano improvisation on a Filipino folk song, Ti Ayat Ti Maysa Nga Ubing (The Love of a Young One). Dedicated to Grandpa Victor, 1923-2013. When he visited you, my uncle told me this is one of the songs you sang with him, and though I've rarely heard you sing, he told me you said (in Ilocano), "Lately, I've found singing to be relaxing." In many ways, we're very similar, Grandpa. I will miss you dearly.

These music practice rooms were the only place I could think of to pray in private. I was about to pray on the final rosary bead when Mom called and I got to speak to you for the last time. After regaining composure, I decided to let my feelings out through the piano in front of me, and this was the first song that came into mind. (I'm sorry for the mistakes, I was making it all up along the way.)

Even if the lyrics are humorous and lighthearted, it's a beautiful melody, and this song will always remind me of home.
