"There IS NO TOMORROW" RIP Carl Weathers 😢

TRUE STORY: The toughest guy Rocky actually fought in this movie was his brother-in-law Paulie in the parking garage. Actor Burt Young may not have looked it, but he was a VERY skilled boxer and tough as nails. 32-2 as a teenager (joined at 16) in the Marines, and 14-0 afterwards as a pro. Met him by chance in Vegas many years ago, and he said he was terrified he would accidentally "crack Stallone's noggin" during that scene. 😂😂 R.I.P. to him and Carl Weathers. 🙏 🙏
  • I love how George says he know nothing about that time other than the cold war as if there was no way the cold war could ever have any significance in a Rocky movie. Oh my sweet summer child!

Mr T is one of the kindest humans on earth. He does so much for others, especially children. He’s nothing like his image.

"It's a shame we gotta get old." That smile after saying that will always be immortalized to me. R.I.P Carl Weathers

Had the pleasure of meeting Mr. T back in the 90s. Despite his tough guy persona he is known for, he was one of the nicest and most polite people I've ever met. Love that guy!

“How much you think he eats?” “About 202 pounds.” One of my favorite Mickey lines.

Apollo's plot arc in this movie is my favorite part of this movie. He really becomes the mentor and friend that Rocky needed to get his edge back. Wish i had a friend like Apollo. R.I.P. Carl Weathers😢

Not only did Carl Weathers recently pass but so did Burt Young who played Paulie.
  • During this time WWF was treated as if it was real. All the wrestlers did a thing called Kayfabe where they kept in character in public and everyone from wrestlers to the company pretended that everything happening was real. Now it is very different with wrestlers openly talking about storylines etc. Would be too long to explain why this shift happened, but yes, during this time TV shows and movies also always pretended like Wrestling (in the WWF/E sense, was real)

Did I hear USSR? Rocky IV music intensifies

Mr. T's name is Laurence Tareaud. He adopted the name "Mr. T." because calling someone Mr. was a sign of respect and ...geez, y'all go read up on him and some of the stuff he's done. He earned every bit of that respect that he commanded.

A rabbit punch, is basically a punch behind the head when your opponent has his head down or when the fighters are clinched together.

Despite urban legend, this is where Mr. T's famous "I pitty the fool" line came from. He never once said it on the TV show "The A Team" where most people insist he said it on multiple occasions. Prime example of the Mandela effect.

In this movie, Stallone wanted to do something similar to the "Rope a Dope" fight Muhammad Ali fought against George Foreman. Foreman was younger and had the hardest punch anyone could see but he always won fast. Ali kept him going and going for round after round after round, taking punch after punch. Then, late in the fight, Ali leaned into Foreman (who was obviously exhausted) and whispered, "Is that all you got, George?" And then commenced pounding Foreman and won the fight. So, Stallone based that second fight off of that.

Rabbit punch refers to a blow delivered to the back of the head, famous for causing severe and often irreversible injuries from spinal cord injury to even instant death. In the early 20th century the rabbit punch was a technique where a quick, sharp strike to the back of a rabbit's head was used to ensure a swift kill without damaging the fur.

I can't remember if I mentioned this in the original Rocky video you guys released, but even Sly himself said that Rocky's story (in the first film for sure) was always a love story first, and the whole boxing realm was a framing device that propelled the main character. But the heart and soul of Rocky was always about Rocky and Adrian. Their love story is really sweet and a great showcase on how two people can just be made for one another.

Adrianne’s speech in this is my favorite part of the entire Rocky franchise

one of the reasons i love paulie's character is that most films use characters like that as a problem to be resolved by the end of the movie. rocky takes the more grounded approach of him being that family member who is always a part of your life. and whilst he's obviously not a good guy hes never shown as full on evil. he has alot of problems (alcohol, unhappy with his career, unmarried) and is capable of showing signs of genuinely caring sometimes and even joking around despite being kind of a grumpy dick most of the time. it also helps burt youngs performance is great
