Hi gents. I’m really enjoying your podcasts! Keep em coming. Jayden, I think you were too gentle with Eric on his podcast. You eventually got him to admit that his quarter MOA gun shot 0.8 MOA (vertical) in one of his recent matches. And even then the penny didn’t drop for him. Perhaps a good way to handle the arguments is to have them define the biggest group that their rifle will shoot, and then challenge them to shoot a 20 shot group. I’m fairly sure that the group size will be larger than their prediction. I say this as my own experiences mirror your findings. I always felt that I had done something wrong with either the shot or during the reloading process when my 0.5 MOA rifle shot a 0.8 MOA group., even though I knew the shot broke well. It had me question all my reloading practices until I watched your podcasts. Thanks for all your effort and the awesome content of your podcasts.

I used 20shot sample sizes in a recent 53gr vmax load development and found my results to be exactly as described. Chasing perfection has really took the enjoyment out of hand loading. Learning this new concept has really revitalized my happiness in my gun room and shooting hobbies. Huge thank you gents!

Thanks for your information podcasts! You are good for gun culture. I got started watching tibrosaurus rex 101 series. I then went to Eric Cortina until his ego gets in the way.. Erik C has done great teaching. I am proud of Jaden for going to toe to toe with Eric. I am now riding your wave. You are for real. Thanks

That was a good one, Seth. Glad to hear some attention being brought to the aspect of barrel cleaning and its effects on pressure. Maybe it will grab the attention of some of the shooters who seem to wear it as a badge of honor that they never or very rarely clean their bore. Jayden, I am also one of the 200 people on this planet who have never been on Fakebook. Keep on fighting the good fight guys.
  • After watching your podcast Your groups are to small I have changed my load development and testing. I now shoot multiple 10 shot groups. I have found I learn allot more about me and my rifle. Thank you for doing all of the testing. It has helped me allot.
  • Those I can respect would never laugh at anyone. (Makes me mad, hate the bullie.) I most closely consider things I disagree with and have learned the most from them. I appreciate your courage in being transparent. Bravo!
  • Miles explanation of velocity v dispersion in response to question about charge weight was brilliant info. about 43:00. Love the collected data y'all share.
  • An entire episode on bore cleaning would be very interesting. Cleaning is a hotly debated subject with tremendous diversity in results and even more diversity in opinions. Getting a hunting/training rifle bore completely clean after 200+ rounds is a helluva chore. It is an order of magnitude less time and effort to clean a bore with around 50rds on it. I perceive from observation that my rifles shoot more consistently and more accurately when cleaned more frequently.
  • Miles, great point! I don’t see any podcasts like Hornady on YouTube. Berger, Sierra and/or other major projectile manufacturers should be sharing their information and testing so us reloading people get more! This has been one of the best podcasts for reload besides all the ones with JQ! Thanks!

Thank you for the information you guys have brought to light concerning sample size. You have basically set me free! I had fallen guilty to the small sample size mindset.

It would be awesome to have an episode with Miles, Jayden, and Bryan Litz.
  • Can you all do a podcast on how the burn rate chart works and what it’s based on ? Thankyou and God bless

@Hornady Manufacturing Would really be good to have @Erik Cortina in one of your podcast. Especially, being 2023 SWN Champion. Also, can you help solve Bill H.R. 584? Maybe get someone to look into it? Sure appreciate it!
  • I really appreciate everything you guys do to help guys like me. Thanks again!

Would love to watch/listen to a powder episode. I'd like to hear about powder choice in a shorter barrel (i.e. 20" 7PRC), should be up your alley, Seth.
  • @johnl5974
More real actual information, much appreciated.

The 6.5 Carcano rifles used by Italy in WWI and WWII were gain twist. It may have been important with the bullets of the 1890's (when they were developed), but did not seem to make much of a difference later on.
  • Another great podcast! I appreciate the honesty with which you deliver the information. If you don't know, you say you don't know or you didn't test that. You've changed my mind about load development, and I've been reloading since my dad got me started in 1974 at the age of 12. Although I don't have the time, resources, or barrel life to shoot the numbers of rounds that you do, I will definitely be adding more shots to my testing while decreasing the numbers of "steps" I shoot. I have experienced what you've described, a 3-shot group that is a ragged hole one day and a 1" or larger the next. I just chalked it up to my shot execution varying. Now I can blame the rifle and the load!
