That's right - The ultra rare SD33T - Nissan Turbo Diesel 1980 Scout II. This one sat in the weeds for almost 2 decades. I'm going to attempt to get it running and drive it over 600 miles back home!

whos else says quietly to themselves "yes!" when they see the video is over an hour?
  • @billgagnon4670
It was never about the international It was the road trip with a real respectful young man who really loves his pops
  • @kmalcolm5352
That young man appeared to be totally ok with hours and hours in a loud old truck with no iPad and no books, chatting with his old man. That’s character. Great video and loved the road trip.

I usually don’t have the attention span for a movie. But I can watch EVERY hour++ vgg from start to finish! Thank you Derek and fam for the inspiration!

Bentley's gonna be 80 years old with a grandkid on his knee telling about the time him and his pops drove 600 miles in an old Harvester on pizza and Yahoo. More holes than swiss cheese and one of the best times of his life! Brings a tear to an old guys eyes.
  • The moment you had with your son when you smiled at eachother, priceless!

I go through these phases where I watch your videos for hours and hours. I love watching you and your family do this together. I’m glad you all have love in your life and that you seem to have a good time doing all of this. Keep it up!

This is one of my top ten revivals. International scout with the NISSAN turbo diesel what a fantastic combination. Great to see the whole family working on the rig.
  • @JASONEAVIS
My 3 year old daughter asked me this morning if we could watch "fixing cars" together, she ofc means VGG, proud moment. Can't wait until she's a bit older and we can do some road trips like this.

When I was your Son's age, me and my Dad would take his '31 Model A to swap meets. We would have to leave around 5:00AM on Sundays to avoid traffic if we had to take a frwy. He would always find a place with pancakes ("hot cakes") and I could have all I wanted then off to the swap meet. Sometimes we would be driving for an hour and not one word. Then my Dad would look over at me and smile and I would smile back. No words. Some of the best memories this 64 year old man has. That feeze frame of you and your Son took me right back to those days. PS The truck is in my garage. My Dad Willed it to me over my 3 older family members as they never really liked it or wanted to go to swap meets that early with my Dad on Sundays. I learned to drive in the truck.

I nearly busted a gut at hearing Leaning on the Everlasting Arms playing after saying it had no oil pressure but you didn't hear any knocking on heaven's door. Talk about the humor on display.
  • I don't know what it is I like most about your videos, can't put my finger on it. Your way of interacting with the family, the wrenching, the unique vocabulary, or the road trips home. Every part is just awesome.
  • @theejoeylee
EQ set to flat = "Feller didn't like to party much" LMAO. Facts.

My heart almost burst when you and your son gave each other that Smile, the one that speaks of all the love you have for each other. Your son is very blessed to have a Dad such as yourself that loves him that much and you are blessed to have a son that loves you equally. Not everyone has that. God bless you and your family Sir. John here, from the back-roads of Tennessee. :)>

A great Dad, makes for a happy family. Blessings, Derek, for setting such a great example. It’s cool to see how wonderful your boys are turning out, after 2+ years of observing y’all. Keep doing what you’re doing. Thanks for sharing.
  • @rrs_13
I like how two brothers can obviously be brothers due to their similarities in behaviours, yet be so different. Derek looks at the oil carefully, smells it, takes a lick and deconstructs the plethora of flavours carefully and eruditely Krang: snif snif lick.. Brand new XD

The "just gonna pretend i didn't see that" phrase never gets old

My Dad didn't used to notice that I was around when I was a kid. It's only now that he is 79 and I'm 55 that he gives me the time of day. Thanks for showing us all how it could've been Derek and Bentley. Keep on trucking bud .
  • @thomasmccardle725
Just so you know, I subscribed after the first five minutes of the first video of yours I was watching, 100 plus video’s later your content only gets better! Had my daddy not died in an accident when I was 9yo I think this is what my life would’ve been with my dad! Bentley and Derek please stay safe and keep on trucking together!!!
  • Thanks Derek for providing some wholesome content. This is definitely motivating me to do some more day trips with the fam.
