Chet Faker - Gold (Official Music Video)

One of the dancers, April Corley, was mistakenly bombed by an helicopter while in vacation in Western Egypt with a tour group. She will not be able to continue her dance career because of the injuries she sustained. Her longtime boyfriend Rafael died in the attack. This is one of the greatest videos of all time. My heart breaks knowing what happened to her.

The choreography, the fact it was done in one shot at night, and on skates is impressive. 

That's A+ Cinematography right there: the One-take feeling, the visual representation of the music at the start of the track, the lighting.... just pure gold.

Years later…. I can’t ever get over or love another video more than this one. I ALWAYS come back. It stays rent free in my mind for sure.

Chet Faker is dead in a crash. The 3 rollerbladers are the 3 girls rolling towards him are the fates, the three sister deities, as portrayed in greek mythology, that "cut the string" of life when someone dies, they decide fates, etc. He isn't dead yet because the fates turn back and decide to give him a second chance.

The three skaters in the music video, which was directed by Hiro Mirai, are Appelusa McGlynn, April Corley and Candice Heiden. All three are accomplished skaters from the Greater Los Angeles Area. The choreography in the video was done by Ryan Heffington. Awesome video!!!

These women are so strong and graceful. They are so talented!

The choreography is next level. This plays with perspective is ways regular dancing videos just can't touch. 10/10 I'm not even mad that it makes no sense paired with the song.

I could watch this over and over. Having the sirens as skaters is genius. So fluid, so beautiful. Hiro Murai is such a gifted director.

I'm dating myself here, but this reminds me of the roller rinks back in the 70s when young women danced to disco on skates. Quite impressive.

The car wreck at the end -- with him in the passenger seat, the deer unscathed but fake, and the girls skating into the dark is just genius.
