Here's a video of me enjoying my Toyota MR2 the way it's meant to be enjoyed. Driving briskly on a twisty mountain road. This is a pure sound video, without any music or any talking. Nothing but the sounds of the itbs from the bike carb 4age echoing through the mountain.

A little explanation when it comes to the driving here. This was my first time on this mountain road, I chose it because of the scenery and I wasn't trying anything other than to have fun. The truck overtake was 100% safe, I don't have a death wish and never overtake unless I'm certain it's clear. The hairpin turn was a failure, but I put it in the video because it happened the way it did and I don't do fake content. What actually happened is that I was on throttle trying to maintain that little drift, but the wet patch at the exit of the hairpin (you can see it in the video too) caught me off guard and one wheel started spinning like crazy all of a sudden dragging me quickly into the other lane.

Wow, you've made a lot of camera angles! Great driving! ♥

Very cool! As usual, I love any and all MR2 content, thanks for being the best, D4A! This is the best format. Just, take 'er easy pardner! I rewatched the truck pass again and again and yeah, I guess you could tell there was no-one in front of it. And i'm sure everyone - yourself included - had a laugh at the hairpin drift into overcorrection into lane excursion. Still! It's your civic duty to supply me with MR2 content, not yeet it off the mountain.

Still one of my favorite videos to drink coffee to by the wood stove on a Sunday morning...before I go out and thrash my WRX to within an inch of its life. ;-) Safely of course. Love this car and your videos, man. Continued thanks for the entertainment!

I have always liked the MR2. One of my best friends bought one new years ago. It was a fun car to drive and ride in. About 10 years ago, I bought a Mazda Miata. It was my first true sports car. It was a decent balance between performance and costs. It sounded OK, especially in higher RPM's. My first car ever bought was a Chev 67 Chevelle SS 396 Factory High Performance. It sounded really good, especially with the headers. Today, I drive a 2008 Maserati GranTurismo. It is a true Italian High Performance Sports Car, with lots of Luxury too. It has back seats, trunk, leather, etc. Prior owner replaced exhaust system with high performance everything. It was loud and sounded good, pretty much straight pipes back to tips. But, it gave me a headache to drive. I put in a high performance axle back exhaust system that had small mufflers. It sounds great, and doesn't announce in advance to the Police that I am coming their way.

I usually hate the sound of tuner 4 cylinders but this sounds angry AF. Nice work.

Love this vid. I have a clean 89 GTS with a 4AGE and while it's not as spirited as you r MR2 it always puts a smile on my face.
  • Nice to see in my recommended feed! AW11 with 4age blacktop + itbs from South Africa here.

My favorite engine is this, is sounds amazing even if is stock 😊
  • @427walrus
Awesome! And proof that you do not need 1000 horsepower to have a ton of fun. I had an 89 SC and the front would oversteer in a tight hairpin the same way. I would like to build another aw11 with a 20 valve Blacktop at some point. Really enjoyed the ride along and hearing the sound of the engine.
