Measurements:
Whole onions (before peeling) - 1kg
Onions (after peeling & coring) - 860gms
Onions after slicing - 850gms
Oil (used for frying)- 1lts
Fried Onions (Yield after frying) - 310gms
Total Oil consumed - 100ml
1Kg whole onions will give 310gms of fried onions. So today is the price of onions is INR 40/kg then the cost of 1kg of Fried onions is approx INR135.

In my family, onions are sliced and sun-dried for 2 days or until they lose 90% water content. Thereafter, all you need to do is hold some onion slices in a colander and dip them in oil ! 10 secs and the onion is fried - all even and all oil free !

This was wonderful. We use it very often in our fried rice and Malabar birayani. Some of us slice them dry it in the sun for a day. Then by night we fry it. Less oil is used. Especially storing was absolutely amazing. Thanks a lot.
