In 2027, MotoGP will implement new technical rules designed to enhance competition and lower speeds.

The current MotoGP peak speed record is 227 miles per hour, and at certain tracks, the run-off space is almost too small to be considered safe due to these high speeds.

Therefore, MotoGP must slow down. In 2027, lowering engine capacity is the first step toward achieving this goal. The maximum bore will drop from the existing 81 millimeters to 75 millimeters by 6 millimeters, but the four-stroke four-cylinder design will remain the same. Maintaining the same stroke length precludes sharp increases in RPM limits, which should result in a decrease in the engines' maximum power output. A season's maximum number of engines is six if there are no more than 20 races, or seven if there are 21 or 22 events.

Stoners top speed in China 2007 with 799cc bike was 339 km/h. In 2027, 20 years later, 850cc will easy reach 350+ km/h

I've always thought that the teams should be free to choose their tyre brand.

Within a year or two, the lap times will match the outgoing 2026 lap records. Ironically reducing the downforce (drag) may increase straight-line speed potential. Getting rid of the ride-height and start devices can only be a good thing. Mostly positive things in these rules. Wish they could bring on a second tire supplier.

Would be keen to see less rider aids with the reduction in engine size, more like the 500 two strokes were. It would put the emphasis back on to riders. I suspect most MGP riders would agree.

If anything, they should increase the cc up to 1299 !
  • I thought racing was about speed lowering engine capacity will slow down the bikes this is crazy i mean the way its going they might as well be peddling round just to be safe wow

Higher cornerspeed instead of topspeed would be good for the sport.

It would be fantastic for the sport to see the extraordinary talent of Toprak Razgatilogue , aboard BMW in MotoGP ..

MotoGP? With the engine change it’s more like Moto2+

850cc is too drastic. No one wants that. 900 or 950 combined with the other changes would be ideal for the entertainment/safety ratio.

Now the Ducati is winning the bring this BS ! They should leave the way it is is not Ducati’s fault that Honda and Yamaha aren’t competitive special Honda they still years light in the back

I think they should go to the asian style of 125cc!! no offence to them. kidding of course. Fark me. What next? Group Moto 2 join with MotoGP to form one race? MGP is for developing street bikes, mainly technology. What do we want on street bikes, big displacement. However I will say get rid of aero, we don't need that on the street either (well most of the time).
  • Speaking for myself, I wanna see 230mph bikes. Track is unsafe? Fix the track. Bike racing is dangerous. Hell, just riding a bike is. You want safe? Race a car.

Moto gp will neve be the pinnacle they have achieved. I will not subscribe after these drastic changes.
