Nice textbook attack, but it looked like about 2000 or more yards out. AoB, I figured was 5 degrees closer, slightly closing. I'd say also lucky you probably hit main engine, killed by flooding, and rollover to stbd. I'd have shot 3. Great video.

Warship, especially those that are cruiser sized or larger have far more extensive internal damage control subdivision (water tight bulkhead and door systems) than the Titanic. The ships are often sub divided longitudinally, so when torpedos or shells damage and flood one side of the ship, the other side of the ship near site of damage remain remain water tight. This often cause ships to lean when damaged; sometimes they capsize (and this sometimes lead to a magazine explosion).

    bullseye! right in the magazine.
  • @fibergran9
yes, but depends of the ship and where you hit them
  • @Xerroxify
@d3nw This is a training mission so he of course learned to set torpedos with right AOB
  • @adaseth
Wow she went fast... usually it takes them at least 15 min to go down when hit by 3 or 4 torpedoes.
  • @heavyarms01h
The Japanese seemed to love that - they did sort of the same thing with Ise and Hyuuga, after all. =)
  • @fibergran9
A ship like this Mogami it's sufficient with 2 torpedoes. :D

I don't think it's sad. It's been a long time and so many generations since the wars, and I don't think ship recognition charts are the sort of thing teachers put in history class syllabi. If anything, I'm glad that these games are helping teach new generations about these great warships of the past. That - and manga, like the recently published "Arpeggio of Blue Steel," which has sentient, nanotech-upgraded versions of the IJN warships with android "avatars" among its cast of characters. =)

@istsvecisark800i it's very difficult see a periscope if the sub it's stopped

Not to mention the Yamato. O_O That's why the U.S. designed the Montana class. :P
  • @heavyarms01h
Yeah, the Japanese really emphasized quality over quantity, arguably even more than the Germans. They knew they weren't able to match the U.S. in building sheer numbers of ships, so they had to make every ship they built and oversized, overpowered, long-lasting Hulk of a lady. Nobody else would ever have thought about putting ten main guns on a CA with three superfiring turrets up front reinforced by torpedo tubes for a long-range punch. Didn't save them from the subs & the carriers, though.
  • @heavyarms01h
Well, I will say this for your people: facts and opinions about the war and its events aside, I think the World War II Imperial Japanese Navy had some of the most beautiful (and terrifyingly powerful) heavy cruisers I've ever seen. =)

Can't get to grips with this game. I seem to sail for 45 mins real time, people get tired and then I miss the convoy. HELP!
  • @deathrooster14
I love how the Mogami is essentially a CA that thinks it's a carrier. xD
  • @deathrooster14
This is true. It's sad that I know all these ships from Navyfield. :P
