  • This is a perfect demonstration of the expressive abilities of the viola. Marc Sabbah is a truly remarkable musician.

I found this piece from one of twosetviolin's recent videos. So, I came here to hear how it actually sounds. It's a very beautiful piece. :)
  • Until recently I've never heard this piece, I wonder why, it's such a masterpiece, it should be among the more famous pieces

This recording is absolutely stunning. The pinnacle of musicality and viola playing!!! Thank you Maestro for your incredible artistry 🙏🏻♥️
  • I am a violist myself and i remember listening to this song so many times when I was in orchestra. Man is this so passionate. Thanks!

This performance is just too breathtakingly beautiful!! You are among my fave violists, especially with your Walton and Bruch recordings. Keep sharing your performances please!! #violalove

Sweep, intelligent and emotionally moving phrasing, and impeccable technique...just a beautiful performance of this thrilling piece!

As a violist, I am so glad I didn't see this performance live as I'd have made a scene. When this was over at home I started clapping, got up, hopped a little and shouted 'F*** yes, Marc!' haha I mean the tone, the legato connectedness of those double stops in the second half, man I think this is the best performance of the Vieuxtemps I've heard.
  • Maravillosa interpretación de una de mis obras favoritas. Muchas gracias por este regalo!

Wow the first few lines First time hearing it, and Im astounded. More minutes to come

Making the trill in the third measure from the upper note is such a wonderful choice, that gives impulse to the melody by avoiding it to crash on the repeating of the note. And it produces a savoury dissonance a flat/g.

I’m not normally a huge fan of this piece, but this rendition was quite impressive. I’ve played through it a few times, and it’s not overwhelming difficult from a technical standpoint, but the musicality really makes or breaks it, and you nailed it. Very well done.
  • What an absolute beautiful interpretation of this piece. I used to play viola in the garden state philharmonic but my career and family put that in the back burner so to speak. However, my son cane to me , unprovoked and said he wants to play viola just like his mom ♥️. He started private lessons this year and is progressing very well. I showed him this video and he was in awe. Thank you for sharing how incredibly beautiful the usually overlooked viola truly is.

I've been showing this video to all of my first and second year string players and most of them can determine that this sounds like 'someone who passed away'. It's amazing how much emotion and story telling is conveyed from this performance. Amazing!
  • Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻 I constantly find myself revisiting this video. You create such a wonderful mood from start to finish and the sound coming from your viola converses with the heart. I even enjoy the sigh that comes from someone lucky enough to be in the audience at 3:32. Again, thank yo
  • I just watched the twosetviolin video where they attempt to play this. Just by listening to them play a bit, I could tell that this is a beautiful piece. And I wasn't disappointed. This is really brilliant. I want to find more interesting viola pieces as I've only been listening to violin stuff. Can any of you give me some recommendations?

I am in tears. The very best performance of this piece, my favourite viola solo, I've ever heard. It does not sound like a capriccio...rather the true aspect of hommage, sorrowful, as though longing for Paganini. Exceptional interpretation as you portray this brilliantly. Bravo 👏
