The 100 isn't the only measure of speed. Pietro Mennea (10.01 here) set the world record in the 200 meters at 19.72. Unfortunately when I looked him up I found he'd passed away at 60 years old in 2013.

I'm pretty sure Valeriy Borzov and Allan Wells would be right up there in this list had they been running on modern tracks, used modern training methods,and had modern footwear.

It's weird how crazy fast Lemaitre was at age 20/21 and how much he has declined even though he's still only 31. Same with Dafne Schippers on the women's side.

Pietro Mennea, Allan Wells, Valirv Borzov, Bobby Morrow are the greatest white sprinters of all time - because they each won Olympic Gold medals, the biggest prize in athletics.

Filippo Tortu performed a 9.99 in Madrid in 2018, he also achieved a year later 9.97 but it was too windy to be convalidated. anyway, 9.99 is official.
