America's #1 Nerdy Comedian
What do you get when you cross an Engineer with a stand-up comedian? You get Don McMillan. This former chip designer has been doing his one-of-a-kind, PowerPoint-Driven comedy show for audiences for over 20 years. In his show packed with graphs & charts, Don will show you the funny side of your world that has been sitting right in front of you – you are just too busy working to notice. Don graduated from Stanford University with a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He then went to work at AT&T Bell Labs where he was part of the team that designed the world’s first 32-bit microprocessor. He then moved to Silicon Valley where he helped launch the start-up company, VLSI Technology. Then after 15 years in the tech world, Don quit his job to become a stand-up comedian. That year he won $100,000 as the Comedy Grand Champion on “Star Search”. Don’s been seen on “The Tonight Show”, “HBO”, and the “Comedy Central”. These days, Don spends most of his time writing and performing customized corporate comedy shows for companies like Google, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Ford Motors, and Exxon/Mobil. Don has performed more than 800 corporate shows in the last 20 years and he was named the #1 Corporate Comedian by the CBS Business Network.

As a Brazilian engineer I am deeply pleased by this little crossover moment lol

I laughed so hard at being able to text the license plate number. I have thought about that for you.

Can’t wait to see him next month in Orlando. I’m a nerd engineer first, then sales guy who does PowerPoints and demos. I make jokes all the time on business calls. “My current joke isâ€Ķ.I gave you the nickel tour of the product, but I guess it’s a dime now due to inflation”, it keeps people attentive in boring business meetings.

The problem is people don't know how to use the lanes. In the UK it's keep in left lane unless your over taking, and then get back in left lane once you've over taken car in front. Problem is to many people don't understand something so simple and stay in the wrong lane causing issues for others.

Great stuff, Don! Something that always drives me nuts is the stop/go attempt to regulate on-ramps. You’re just burning more fuel sitting and creeping at idle, and all the traffic lights are doing is trying to mask and overcomplicate the fundamental problem: people who struggle with confidence merging. What if, instead, we took a page from the “meatball” on an aircraft carrier and the sequential lighting of a runway? What if we had sequential lights that flashed from slow to faster speeds as you progress down the on-ramp in such a way that, all you have to do to match merging speed is to keep the current light in your driver’s side window lit? It’s the same effect as when you record a helicopter on camera, and the blades rotate at the same frequency as the frame rate, making it look like the blades aren’t spinning. This approach would instantaneously communicate to a driver if they’re going fast enough to merge, and from there, all they have to do is check their blind spot on their left, adjust acceleration slightly not to kill the guy who’s occupying the spot you’re set to merge, and you’re not bogging down traffic 2-3 miles behind you as you try to juggle calculus subconsciously.

This guy bringing back a lost art. A genuinely funny comedian you can watch with your kids without being worried? No touchy subjects or buzzword politics? Yeah, I'm definitely subscribing.

Every time I get in the Go For It lane, I end up back in the 1950s. Stupid Flux Capacitor.
  • @pragmax
I'm gong to share this at work, but not (just) because it's funny. Your act demonstrates the proper use of slides to support a performance - something the workplace fails at a lot. But let's face it: these great jokes are going to make it stick.

Actually your ‘Allot Lanes by Minimum Speed’ is the correct way to drive on any multilane highway. Ask the Germans, they invented the autobahn.
  • @feffy380
You have invented the Autobahn XD
  • @GaryHutchins
You mean your lanes aren't already organised like that ? ðŸĪ”
