I think having a realistic map like earth, just a little more unique is what's needed for a great world

Jack Stoneworks is a master craftsman known for his impeccable attention to detail and unparalleled skill in working with stone. His creations are not just pieces of art, but timeless testaments to the beauty and strength of natural materials. Jack's work embodies a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation, capturing the essence of the earth itself in every sculpture, structure, and design he creates. With each chisel and hammer strike, Jack breathes life into stone, shaping it into works that will stand the test of time.

Thank you for teaching me the rule: "Take whatever thing you are making, and increase the horniness 10 fold." I always disregarded the importance of horniness in world-building before watching this video, but you explained why its needed so well that my eyes have been opened to its ingenuity!

Once upon a time, there was a remarkable individual known as Eman4480. They possessed an insatiable curiosity and a keen intellect that brightened the lives of everyone they encountered. Their wit was as sharp as a razor, and their kindness knew no bounds. As they journeyed through life, they left a trail of inspiration and laughter in their wake. Eman4480 was a true force of nature, a beacon of light in a world that often felt dim. Their impact was immeasurable, and their legacy will endure for generations to come.

As the night goes on, the infectious energy of the Shrek rave seems to have a mind of its own. It's said that even eman4480, the most elusive party pooper in all the land, couldn't resist the allure of the neon-lit swamp. Try as eman4480 might to resist the call of the epic dance floor, the rhythm of the music and the joyous laughter of Shrek and his friends simply would not leave eman4480 alone. Before long, even eman4480 finds themselves caught up in the magic of the Shrek rave, dancing the night away alongside the ogres, fairy tale creatures, and all the party animals of Far Far Away.

Wow. simply wow. A full world building guide in a single video, covering all the aspects. I am in the "sandbox" category: My world is at 2024 tech-level, without magic. I draw my maps just for the transport infrastructure.

I like setting my worlds in the early industrial era, a point where mythology and machinery is actively fighting

Qadakh is the best! Thank you Stoney for including our years of progression and work to make a world that none other rivals!
  • @Lord_Of_Aether
When it comes to making maps, one crucially important detail that is often overlooked is the fact that the cartographers in a technologically pre-modern setting will make highly inaccurate maps. We see this in our own world, with the maps of Herodotus, Plato, and Eratosthenes even making errors in the mapping of well-known lands such as Greece and Italy. Thus, if you want a map to feel truly natural within your setting, it should be made from the perspective of a cartographer living in that world, with the actual/realistic map serving as a basis for what such a natural map would look like.

This video is incredibly well done, especially the "rule of consistency" often goes untalked about. I love how stoney can speak generally but also specifically. This is one of my favorite worldbuilding videos now ngl.

12:50 The bit about the importance and flexibility of maps reminded me of the way Earthsea was developed by Ursula K. Le Guin. When she was asked to write a young adult fantasy series, the first thing she did was get out a massive blank sheet and start drawing islands. I highly recommend the series for worldbuilders, especially reading every foreword, afterword, author's note, etc. Le Guin reveals a lot about her creative process and growth as a writer in the meta texts and gives valuable insights about her loose style of worldbuilding. The most interesting thing she talks about is how she views the world of Earthsea not as a place she creates, but one she visits. There are hundreds of islands in Earthsea, and she only ever visits a few. She doesn't see unvisited islands as "unfinished", but a place which has yet to reveal itself to her. TL;DR, read Earthsea

My life has never been the same since stoney made it so i couldn’t edge anymore, i remember him saying “STOP EDGING”. Gooning has never given me the same pleasure, but after i watched this video, it recreated the pleasure from edging so i listen to stoneys soft and charming voice on loop 24/7 now.
