I had already ran into Daigo Umehara in ranked matches in Japan, and played him in casuals at Gamers8... so I thought maybe he would accept an invite to play some sets. Thankfully he did, and we got some crazy matches with a Street Fighter legend.

Street Fighter 6, the next game in the iconic series, will release in 2023! Take part in the Fighting Ground, which focuses on the classic fighting game experience with modes from previous games in the series. Two new modes will be available alongside: World Tour, an immersive single-player story experience, and Battle Hub, which will further expand the scope of player communication and engagement. Your Moment. Your Fight.

Thanks for showing this set, it was a lot of fun to watch. You and Daigo are both some of my favorite players to see.

I like Daigo's picture in the thumbnail. It's a huge contrast to how he's perceived.

It's cool to see pro SF players finally make enough to do this cross-world training just for the purpose of upping their skills. There's nothing better to up your game than getting in these long sets with the gods of the franchise. You could also see that Daigo went all out on Nephew, he found and punished every little move choice he could to win. SSJ4 Nephew will be scary indeed. You can also see in Nephew's face that he believed he would lose, his confidence is riding on every round and even on a hit in a specific round. He smiles to himself like "Of course he'd get me there, it's Daigo". Difficult experiences like this are helpful for overcoming those thoughts and treating every opponent the same, no matter what their name is. Keep going!

As a Manon main, when I watch matches lke this with these types of characters, its a painful reminder of how essentially, these characters are truly playing SF6. Its like Manon, and a few others aren't playing SF6, we're playing a completely different game. Its hard to explain if you don't happen to main the low tier type, but if you do, you know what im talking about.

That was actually a really close series. Not a bad job, a lot of rounds could have gone either way.

@Nephew do you find Diago is incredibly difficult to play against or just difficult?
  • @wulongchai
GJ. if you can beat Daigo, then you are almost prepared for the big money tournament

Is that samurai shodown music in the background of the first match? 😯
