Dino Raiders was one of the best 80's toy lines. Amazing toys!
  • Dino-Riders was my favourite Toy and Cartoon as a kid. I had a number of them and I re-bought a few as an adult.

I DID grow up to be a paleontologist. Can confirm. You DON'T do this if you're looking to make big money - HOWEVER, there ARE some positions which do pay pretty nicely - the catch is, a PhD is pretty much mandatory and the competition for any position is EXTREMELY high level - so unless you went to a top 3 university and had all the right connections, grades, etc, you're not getting that curator position at the American Museum of Natural History, for instance. That's reserved for the people who not only have a PhD but have the highest level connections to big names in he field. Trust me on that. But, I've made about $30/hour working on construction projects where I was there as the paleontologist, and I'd get sometimes 50, 60 hours a week ($1,800 a week) - BUT those jobs ALSO have downtime too when there's no projects. So. Yeah, it's a LONG educational path to a minimum of a Master's or PhD for less than you'd make going into programming or something without the need to get a PhD. HOWEVER. You can double major in geology AND paleontology and find jobs in both - and some geo jobs pay pretty well. Then you can just look for that curator or research position on the side until you get that. Still, you're looking at 4 years for a Bachelor's, 1 to 3 for a Master's depending on the program (my Master's was a 2 year program, full-time), and on average 5 or 6 years to a PhD for a total of 11 to 12 years of total university education - so if you start at 18 right out of high school, expect to be close to 30 by the time you're even employable in any serious position in paleo. That's WHY most will never ACTUALLY go into this field. Anyway. I had Dino-Riders as a kid. NO idea how they got lost over the decades but I wish I still had them. I had Monoclonius, Quetzalcoatlus, I think Torosaurus and maybe the T. rex (or at least the same mould used on the T. rex). One day, I'd love to collect them again.

One of my childhood faves. Also I love these kinds of videos, I hope you keep making them.
  • If Mattel wont do dino riders even if exclusives on mattelcreations like they do Motu Origins now... then license it out to Neca or Super7 etc. Had almost all the toys except never even saw the T-Rex in stores to even ask my mother or grandparents as a kid.. And somehow some way they just were gone out of my closet . My mother has mental issues and I ocd about cleaning is one of them and she's been known to throw stuff away without thinking or checking what it is so I think that was it but OH MY GERD Im even more upset now than back then with how much money these cost today.
  • In Germany, back then Dino Riders, MASK and Starcom were competing for shelf space, I went MASK.
  • I would love if we could somehow get a Dino-Riders in 6 inch scale, but I doubt it'll ever happen.
  • Great video. Loved that toy line. Why doesn't Mattel do a kickstarter thing for a reissued walking t rex? I would sure be on board for that.
  • Love Dinoriders! Just got volume 2 on vhs last week 😎
  • Man i had the trex and the triceratops. Got them for christmas one year bc i was hardcore into dinosaurs, just like every little boy in the late 80s lol.
  • Awesome video and summary of my favourite toy line! Just beautiful toys for Dino lovers 🦖😎
  • Visited your store a few years ago when I was in ATL. Great store and you gave me some good deals. Nice to see you guys on YouTube 💪
  • @bouchamr
Awesome figure line and it needs to come back

This is the kind of content I wanted from this channel. Good storytelling and analysis from an expert with personal connections. Good stuff.

I remember those dino rider minis. And didn't care for them. Especially since they were not in scale with other miniature lines that were out at the time. I do remember the whole set was like $60 or so dollars. But would've been nice if they had instead tried with the t-rex and triceratops, just without the electronics. Would've ordered both in a heartbeat.
  • I would say Dino-riders & StarCom have to be two of my favorite alternate collections. 😊
