At Rock Hill Farm and Homes we upload new videos at least 3 times per week, about our 20 Acre hobby farm, our John Deere 2038R compact tractor and other equipment, and the businesses that we run.

These businesses include a manufacturing operation, a Christmas tree farm, real estate investing, a lawn care business, and an online retail store. I demonstrate how I am able to use these ventures to earn a good living without a traditional job.

We have some cool toys and always think outside the box on our little homestead so come along for the ride.

You can expect new videos from us every other day, usually around 8 AM.

Great video Brock!! Little jd did good job carryin the bales hay spears worked good also. I have a 1626 Mahindra I'm pretty positive I can haul one on front and one rear but don't have any neighbors that need me to help them feed hay like my old place. Main thing puttin the bale spikes on with wrench was quality time spent with grandson and teachin him valuable life lessons. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun enjoy ya'lls family and homestead

You already had pallet forks you can lift a hay roll with pallet forks. Do it all the time.
  • It worked out well but like Ben said having on one on the back would help. My little max24 can tote one on the 3pt but I have to give it the front loader lift assistance to clear the ground good and will ride a wheele some going up hill. My L3130 handles them good but I carry front and back on it. Some tractors are very shocking at what they can do based off of first look in person.

Having one on the back too would make a big difference! It actually did pretty good, probably wouldn’t be able to handle them safely on our terrain here. Great video!

I wasn't surprised that you could do it by going low and fairly slow as the saying goes. I'm just not sure if it's too hard on the front axle. That would be the only thing I would be worried about if it's done a lot throughout the year.

Love the American flag net wrap! Seems like the 2038 handled them no problem. I put two 3x3x8 squares on the 2501 to see if it could pick them, it did but i wouldn't want to drive it with two. You have a good on Brock.

How much profit do you get from your field? I'm curious about cost break down. if you get $150/round bail x 12 bails, how much did you pay the guy to harvest the hay? What would be your profit?

I prefer a bigger tractor hands down. There is time related efficiency to consider: three faster bales per trip vs with a bigger tractor as opposed a gingerly one bale slow trip. The scale of your land matters though. Also there is the big ticket items which include wear and tear or breakdown when you’re trying to beat the rain after doing an Olympic power lift on a recurring basis. I’m trying to be helpful here and hope my experience helps; thank you.
  • Where do you get this spear with the ubolt connectors ? could you put the link ?
  • @scottwilson2382
I have had to replace both front hubs on my jd955 after moving large round bales. $1200/hub. Definitely move them using the 3 point hitch.
  • @BillyP55
I'd about bet you have a deep-well socket for those bolts by now. lol
  • the little John Deere will do it, but will not last long. Your front axle will be wearing twice as much.
