Another Crab's Treasure reviewed by Travis Northup on PC, also available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Another Crab’s Treasure is one of my favorite soulslikes in quite some time. It borrows a lot from the usual genre playbook, but adds a colorful, irresistibly charming, and wholly unique veneer that makes it all feel brand spanking new. The story is well-written and filled with memorable moments and characters, the shell-swapping mechanic is unique and adorable as heck, and the unrelentingly cheerful mood is like finding land after years adrift in an angsty sea of Bloodborne imitators. Its combat isn’t the deepest ocean around and it has a bit of jank here and there, but Another Crab’s Treasure is so clever and wonderfully ridiculous that it’s absolutely worth your time.

So the hardest enemy is the camera? A true souls-like indeed

'Had me grinning throughout my 20 hour tour of the ocean floor.' Just picturing this guy, smile spread wide like a madman alone in a darkened room for twenty hours.

The game has lots of bugs? No they're crabs not bugs.

It's a Soulslike for everyone. Being easy is a little expected

Great review. Love the idea of a bright and colorful souls-like, wanna see more like it!

Dark Souls, an incomprehensible game about fantasy nonsense: unremittingly grim and punishing Another Crab's Treasure, a game about the real life tragedy of our oceans being destroyed by junk: a fun and lighthearted romp

The fact that this scored higher than stellar Blade is Hilarious and sold me

Dark Shells: prepare to drown edition
  • Actually this is completely natural evolution for Souls, every game in that series has so many crabs... Elden Ring too

This just makes me wish Goat Simulator 3 had a Soulslike mode.
