Nuclear is the 'only option that works': Keith Pitt

Published 2024-05-19
Nationals MP Keith Pitt says nuclear energy is the “only option that works” in order to achieve net zero and keep the lights on.

“Peter (Dutton) said in the budget reply speech last week, the intention is locations at existing or previous coal-fired power stations,” Mr Pitt told Sky News Australia.

“Which makes sense – it’s where you have the assets, you’ve got the people with the skills that you need.”

Nuclear is reliable and emissions free. Why wouldn't we consider it?

The reality is that Australia has 100 years of GAS so all you have to do is DRIL DRILL DRILL for gas and use it here b4 you export it

Hinkler would be an excellent site for the first nuclear power plant. A glow in the dark "bundy" would be a novelty.

After an incident in the past with the CMFU I decided that I did not wished to have my union fees used to support Labor. The answer that was given to be by the Union representative, we only give 50% of members fees to Labor so you can be assured that your union fee is not part of it. I then asked to see the list of union members that agreed to this deal which of course did not exist. I then ask to be given a written statement to assure me that non of my union fee was contributed to Labor, naturally they declined this request. Now these are the people that then come to power in government and the results of there bungling was seen in the Bannon Government State Bank losses and the same happened in Victoria with Joan Kirner. I mean we all make mistakes?

These retired politicians are entitled to make an honest living BUT they should not be allowed to do it off the back of taxpayers for favours they have done for corporations while in office. Point in fact the Labour energy minister who reduced taxes on gas producers. Australia in the last decade was the biggest producer of LNG worldwide making 28 billion in taxes while the Qatar make 75 billion for less gas. Reason? the tax break given by Australia. This retired Labor minister went directly from cabinet to corp board of advisors check it out. and Bozo Bowen's real reason for switching to supporting gas

What type of nuclear reactors, where will they be situated, how long will it take to build them, how much will it cost, and what will happen to the waste? When is this going to be more than a thought 💭.
