THIS IS NOT PART 2 - but it is kinda "part 1.5" as it's a topic I wanted to discuss that was too far away from the purpose of the 'Exposing ZHC' thing. For those wondering, part 2 will come in a month or so, lots of work to do, I interviewed Zach and many others and want to take my time and do the right thing. Thank you for your patience ❤

LOL I thought I was going to get away with not getting exposed for customizing the toilet seat 😂 There is SUCH a balancing act on YouTube especially I feel for artists and I’m so glad you bring it up and show that ie how your tutorial performed versus how other content does. I’m always getting comments like “just paint something, nothing fancy” but as soon as I do that…total flop (I painted a tiny canvas and it got less than half my usual views) I HAVE to have that hook and if I stray even a tiny bit from my usual content, it’ll flop. Thank you for starting the conversation and talking about this!

I'm sorry for making ANOTHER comment, but something you mentioned resonates with me. The change - the way we are being forced to change. Its so hard. There's so much I wanna do, but it's not what the system wants! We as artists, already have tremendous pressure to maintain quality in our work, then editing and acting to make art fun! Couple all that with a system that rewards click bait/hype/expensive products, its demotivating. There's much I wanna do, but, I'm forced to jump on "hype" and avoid what I'm truly passionate about... to keep up. Our comment sections as you mentioned, change. We lose those "friends" we built (not subs, FRIENDS/Family), and gain these bland "give me that" comments. Look at Mr beast/ZHC. Comments are just clout chasers and people "begging" for a handout. Wheres the community?. Sorry for the rant. But , going through struggles with this system, you seem to always express how I feel! THAT is why you're my favourite Creator brother and why I look up to you!

Do the most meta thing ever: let artists customize JAZZA and then walk around the town all bodypainted like a boss.
  • It's so sad that the platform rewards clickbait. I honestly had no idea who ZHC was, but follow both Jazza and Chloe Rose Art (so awesome to see her pop in on this video) because I enjoy their authenticity.
  • @stonersiren
it's so sad that the last coloring tutorial was a fail in your books, i really liked that video and it's great for people who suck at alcohol markers like me

What I personally don’t understand the most about all the “customizing” products is like why can’t we just get custom/custom our own CASES for it instead of the product 😭 it’s literally the same thing, with way less risk even. I understand the whole “incentive”/attracting viewers idea, but still, just w h y 😭 just give the item and a custom case or something it hurts me mentally so much
  • @poodlestyle33
Honestly, YouTube trends are usually much more boring than seeing an artist actually passionate about the project in their video. Never cared for these customizing fancy shit ones myself, but to each their own.
  • @jackmcgoof5549
I'm a silent subscriber most of the time but I watch almost every video. Even the coloring video was a great watch for me and even made me feel nostalgic, even if it may not perform like you wanted, the people who watch you to have fun while learning will always love these videos.
  • @Box28
It is a real shame “how to colour like a pro” video didn’t perform well. In my opinion it has been one of your best videos this year and I was so excited to see you make it. No joke the minute the video finished I picked up my sketch book and practiced what you had taught. Even watching it a second time to get my technique right. Your tutorial videos (for me) have always been your videos that have inspired me the most. Shaping me to be the artist I am today. Great video and conversation as always. Really gets you thinking!
  • Really liked the part you said about your "community disappearing" with the giveaway videos, and you're right, it was such a powerful message. With the giveaway videos, it really seems like art fans who used to watch slowly pull away, and you get random attention from so called "fans" who are only subbed to get free stuff, not for the actual art content.
  • @user-vm8mq5op6u
I like the fact jazza doesn’t lie about how he’s also done some similar content, when he’s criticizing Zach it shows jazza isn’t hating on Zach and actually has good intentions behind what he’s talking about
  • @orbweaver9750
ZHC: "I don't want to go on camera to talk to you, I'm too nervous!" Also ZHC: appears with Anthony Padilla like it's NBD
  • @grriot
I think that it is so much more sustainable, and rad AF, when artists customize random thrifted or found stuff, toys, murals and basically just making old things fking amazing again. Artists have to hustle enough, we shouldn't need to put our art on all this extraordinarily expensive shite to be validated. Thank you!!!
  • @CoolRiceBunnies
Really loving this series Jazza! Always so troubling from within when you're a creator/artist but you feel like you're at the service of the YouTube algorithm.
  • @somaniradhika
Just like Ann, here's another Aussie initiating meaningful discourse on the direction YouTube and content creation is taking. Nice to have a space for such conversation.
  • I must admit, the only customize videos I watch are Moriah’s. I just like how you can tell she enjoys her own work and all her customized items are cheaper items and just for her own pleasure.
  • @chey_daniella
The problem with giving away expensive stuff constantly customized or not is the type of people those videos attract. Most loyal audiences will not suddenly turn into freebie hungry people- it's just that those videos attract those types of people and overwhelm the comment section. They drown out the voices of your loyal subscribers, the people who have stuck by you for years. Some may not even want to bother commenting because they know it won't be seen with the influx of "give me that free thing" comments. Those people boost a video's popularity and the content creator but in most cases they turn away loyal fans who care about the creator as a person.
  • @emilywood3330
I learned alot from the "How to color like a pro" video and I really enjoyed watching it. Don't worry so much about pleasing sooo many people because there will always be others that believe and enjoy the same things you do.
  • I remember watching ZHC's customizing videos with Rae and Chloe. I really liked seeing the different art styles using the same supplies but I remember wishing that Zack would show more of the artwork and the thought behind some of the beautiful pieces. Every time the art was shown on camera is was in a montage or something and was on screen for only a few seconds at a time. After watching a small hand full of ZHC's customizing videos I got bored and stopped watching because they were pretty much all the same.
