Bangladesh unrest: Dhaka burns as quota protest turns violent, curfews continue

Bangladesh has been gripped by violence amid violent student protests against quotas for Govt jobs. Soldiers have been on patrol on the streets in parts of Bangladesh as ‘civil unrest’ continues. Bangladeshis intending to leave the country face flight cancellations as curfew continues. Bangladesh Government extended curfew ahead of court hearing on controversial job quotas. Death toll mounted to over 114 in violent stir, Bangladesh army took over the ‘deserted’ streets of Dhaka. Suspension on internet, text services has remained in place since July 19, cutting off Bangladesh from world. Protests erupted over 30% of Govt job quotas for families of those who fought for independence from Pakistan.
